Only if they would rather live like that instead of moving. In other words, they would be living like that by choice only.
And if that's what they want, it's OK by me.
The moral of this article is.......incomes have very little influence in determining housing costs.
Hong Kong is an island. America is not. You cna just pick up and move to any state.
Folks, see the spectacular difference of Hong Kong today, and a hundred years ago?
All thanks to capitalism.
Look at Cuba 60 years ago and today. No difference.
All thanks to socialism.
Are you going to waiste your life worrying about your housing? In the large scheme it doesn't really matter at all. The guy who owns 10 rental units and lives in great house and great neighborhood is not going to live longer and healthier than you anyway. Much different factors are responsible for that.
I know lots of miserable rich people with totally screwed up kids living in their mentions and their kids are not doing anything, they hate their parents and are lost. Because daddy is a big shot and I'm not even going to try and I would rather get fat and smoke dope.
On other side that young person who figured out how to pay $500 rent in SF so he can save on rent, that's creative, cool, bad ass. That person is creative, ambitious and driven. That kid wasn't handed everything from the time he was born. I would be proud of my son if he lived in SF in a bathroom like room saving his money and being ok outside of his comfort zone. That's kind of unseen these days. Kids can't handle any hardship these days.
No need to be jealous of people having more than you. The Devil takes its due eventually from everybody.

There is no reason that toilet/kitchen/bedroom/abattoir can't be valued at 8 figures by Christmas.
You're adorable.
I hate it when I accidentally drop my chopsticks in the toilet.
I think that's where they wash the dishes.
