Black Lives Matter activists have gone even further — going so far as to call for a ban on all Confederate imagery — even in private possession.

Outlawing all Confederate flags, symbols, statues, and groups would not only be indescribably impractical — taking into account the existence of battlefield monuments, graves, Civil War re-enactors, every single souvenir shop within a 10-mile radius of Gettysburg, historical computer games, and Lynyrd Skynyrd albums — it would also be illegal.

"Even the most liberal Supreme Court justice knows that the remedy to hateful or offensive speech is opposing speech," Eddie Zipperer, an assistant professor of political science at Georgia Military College, told LifeZette. "This would be a blatant violation of the First Amendment."

"Leftists always haul out the argument that you can't yell 'fire' in a crowded theater, so free speech has limits," he said. "But that argument is nonsensical. Historically, the Supreme Court goes to any length to protect political speech — even wildly unpopular speech."

They are ratcheting this shit back up because the Manafort raid, didn't uncover any Trump damaging evidence, and top investigators are leaving Muellers sinking ship of Fools.

People who want to make confederate imagery criminal are wrong.

On the other hand, people who are proud of the fight to keep slavery alive are deplorable and those who are proud that Robert E Lee is part of their heritage are racist. All of the torch carrying people who came to Charlottesville to terrorize the locals should have been arrested in a just world. The only reason they were not is for fear of provoking a riot.

Furthermore, all of the country folk who descend on cities to tell other people how to live or what monuments to display do not care about freedom.

This statue also has to go, it is clearly misogynist, exist and prone to sexual harassment. If you look careful enough, every statue has a political flaw.

No, it's because of NAFTA negotiations. Some TDS reporter asked "Why has Trump no Public Events" - because he's involved with that.

Folks, we might walk away from NAFTA.

I hear the Mexicans and Canadians are refusing to budge on North American Origin. Right now the Chinese are sneaking in goods, doing bare minimum assembly in Mexico especially, and then importing into the US tariff free because NAFTA.

No political or historical imagery or speech is illegal wrong in the USA. This is an unprecedented demand, and it will never become law thanks to the 1st Amendment.

This is the illiberal, authoritarian Left speaking.

Yup. I myself do not like the confederates and what it stood for-slavery. That is what they fought for. But if you had half a brain cell and passed history-the Union won, the country stayed united and confederate statues only call attention to a sad part of history that needs to be acknowledged. They lost-if they want to put statues to remind themselves they lost-knock yourself out!!

Just imagine if the reverse had happened?

I think you may be a fascist. Without the 1A you and I are nothing. How about this, let people exercise their rights and don't go to counter protest with bats and clubs. Dipshit.

No one is DC seems to like Trump. THAT is the #1 reason I voted for him.

You do realize the North had slaves also, no? Also, slaves who escaped north were, by federal law, returned. Also, I could produce many quotes given by Lincoln showing he was a racist. Sooooo, a racist won the civil war. Ooops, bet you don't like those facts.

10   Shaman   2017 Aug 17, 11:19am

It's interesting how the Authoritarian Left is using media and politics to stir up another Civil War, and at the same time is working to eradicate civil war history. Didn't George Santayana say, "those who can not remember the past are condemned to repeat it."

It's informative to read history written by the winners. It's INSTRUCTIVE to read how the conflict began from the viewpoint of the losers. What made them fight so hard for the "wrong" side? Keep in mind: 90% of Southerners weren't slave owners. Why did they refer to Lincoln as the Tyrant?

If we get rid of our history, we may well condemn ourselves to repeat it. This time red vs. blue. Trannies wielding rubber dildos vs cartoonists wielding rare Pepe's.

I think they should change their logo to LMM i.e. "Lawsuit Money Matters", since they ignore the glaring issue of B on B murder and violence, which eclipses all the others.

Liberals don't care about the Constitution. Won't stop them from passing a law criminalizing free speech and getting it past the Supreme Court if they control it.

Abe Lincoln's state set on fire in Chicago:

14   HEY YOU   2017 Aug 17, 3:58pm

How many Republicans voted against Nafta?
How many have fought NAFTA since day one?
Thought G.W.Bush repealed it.
Just more Republican failures.

Treasonous Traitors are criminal.

Gotta love wanna be Southerners that kill Presidents.
Just like Southern Nazis today,it's someone's elses fault.

" The likelihood of Lincoln's re-election filled Booth with rage towards the President, whom Booth blamed for the war and all of the South's troubles. Booth had promised his mother at the outbreak of war that he would not enlist as a soldier, but he increasingly chafed at not fighting for the South,"
He didn't have to dodge the draft like Trump.
Trump would have help assassinate Lincoln?

Either by Book Burnings or Concentration Camps or Criminalized Speech, the US will never become like the Reich.

Third or Fourth.

Those people are mentally ill and should be absolutely kicked out, instead of being catered to by liberal ass kissing politicians.
