In the lawsuit, filed in federal court in South Carolina on Tuesday evening, Corey Payne and his fiancée, Kayla Harris, said they purchased a three-pack of eclipse glasses on Amazon in early August, assuming that the glasses would allow them to safely view the United States’ first coast-to-coast total solar eclipse in a century on Aug. 21.

Later that day, Payne and Harris began to experience headaches and eye watering. In the following days, they developed vision impairment, including blurriness and distorted vision, their lawsuit said.

Hoo boy, I would not trust some shitty glasses to save my eyes from looking at the sun.

My cereal box with a hole poked in it worked better.

Man is so shallow.
In the known universe, how many eclipses are there each day?
They don't happen unless you see them.
Fuckers waste time & money to see something that is not special,
just like their offspring.
Did seeing the shit make anyone smarter, richer or happier today.
Anything dumber? Tattoos!

The Amazon website explicitly stated that the solar glasses (all the various models) were ISO 12312-2 certified. This turned out to be a lie. This is a very big deal.

The customers were not negligent in their purchases. Amazon was negligent in its advertising and sales using third party vendors. Using a third party does not alleviate liability for damaging people's vision. Amazon should have weighed the pros and cons of selling third party crap on its website especially when the products cause real medical harm to users. Amazon fucked up big time.

The third party vendors who sold defective eyewear should be criminally punished.

Happier, yes. Appreciating nature is a joy. If you cannot see that, it's your loss.
