Who said it would be affordable?

"Berkeley has put an end to a long-drawn-out bid to create housing in the city that began with an application to build three homes on a lot in southwest Berkeley, and went on to trigger lawsuits and appeals."

All this just to replace one home with three. Good luck solving the housing problem.
The way to solve the affordable housing problem is to make it easy for home builders to profitably build cheaper housing. That would include building lots and lots of high density projects comprising of condos, apartments, and high rises. There is no other way.

Sure it's affordable. Instead of $4,000 for a 2 bedroom, it will be $3,900.
