From AI to cloud computing to the Internet of Things, the technology sector is hot and its need for fresh talent is only getting hotter. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, computer and information technology jobs are expected to grow at an above-average 12% from 2014 to 2024. Notice that the highest paying job by far is not a tech position. It's a management position. 'Nuff said.

$90k in NYC is about the poverty line. You can't even own a parking space at that income.

These seem low to me, but I guess they're entry level. I've only visited the three metropolitan areas mentioned, but living around even Chicago, those would be tough salaries for a single dude. You'd have to live in a rough neighborhood in the city or a "decent" suburb with train access around my parts. If you had a spouse and no kids then it's obviously a little easier if they worked. Non-working spouse and kids, you're not going to live in Chicago without dodging bullets with most of those salaries.

Forgot this part. I agree, $90k in NYC would be rough. It would be rough in any decent part of the top 5 major metros across the country.

How much education and experience is required? A Master's Degree and/or 2+ year's experience is not entry level, btw.
