I do not think that is true. I beelive foxes live in pairs and possibly mate for life. They may have one or two from their prior litters hang around to help with the enxt litter. So defnitely not solitary.
Except lions, most of the wild cat family are indeed solitary. But even them live with a male covering territories of a few females who raise his cubs. A new male will still kill cubs that are not his.
