NFL owners to consider rule change that would require players to stand for national anthem

By me123 following x   2017 Oct 10, 9:35am 818 views   96 comments   watch   quote     share

The owners of the NFL are reportedly considering a rule change that would make it mandatory for players to stand during the national anthem.

A league spokesman said that the owners would discuss the potential change during a meeting next week, Dow Jones reported.

In recent seasons, primarily black professional football players have knelt during the national anthem to protest racial inequality in the United States. The protests started after former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick last year began kneeling during the anthem to protest police mistreatment of black Americans.

Wait, how can the NFL do that, don't the players have "freedom of speech"??

.."Earlier Tuesday, President Donald Trump tweeted that tax laws should be changed so that the NFL doesn't get "massive tax breaks while at the same time disrespecting our Anthem, Flag and Country."

Ahhhh.... money (or lack of) talks where it counts!

Black people who murder black people get prosecuted and convicted.

They do? Care to provide verifiable stats, or is just another one of your theories that you pulled out of your ass?

How about you tell us how many of these have been prosecuted and convicted?

Maybe you can ask tattup70, oops, that's JoeyJoeyJoey to help you, since this is happening in his backyard.

Because if you did you forgot to mention that this study was done in HOUSTON.

This is pedantic idiocy. Are you unable to read the most basic summary yourself? I didn't only read the article, I read the actual study. Try doing some basic research rather than just read headlines and articles

If the identity of the murderer is known, and there is a videotape of the murder, yeah, I'd say pretty much 100% of black-on-black murders are prosecuted.

This is just more dumbassery from you. Are you really trying to argue that solved police-on-black murder cases should not be prosecuted because that very same police is not able to solve enough black-on-black murder cases? I guess so. Par for the course. You just painted yourself into yet another corner.

Those are some pretty significant "IFs"..

Hey Einstein, that would also hold true for all these cop "criminals" too, wouldn't it??

It certainly is, you never cease to amaze us with your ignorance. Maybe if you had a really bright light on a helicopter, you could see things clearer.

So I'll ask you again, where are the stats, defend your statement.

You’re demanding that the NFL players stop kneeling and you’re demanding that the NFL owners do something about it.

I think the NFL players are brats to kneel.

I think the NFL owners/admins are full of PR Bullshit when they try to dodge taking on the Kneeling by using Freedom of Speech.

For the goddamn upteenth time, the NFL fines and suspends players for saying Dammit, making hand gestures, wearing Cancer Awareness Eyeblack, and basically runs their lives. But on this one issue all of a sudden the NFL is all about FREEDOMZ (tm)? Bullshit PR to dodge dealing with the issue, I say.

The only government action I thought would be necessary is pulling their tax-free, and taxpayer subsidized, largess. There STILL is no reason the NFL should be tax free even when they stand for the pledge going forward.

errc s...

I thought you were wrong then, but forgot to come back and let you know, but after hearing today that THE NFL STILL HASNT MADE ANY RULE CHANGES WRT KNEELING DURING THE ANTHEM, I remembered to come and correct you on your #FakeNews (that got 3 likes lol)

because a few NFL players didn't properly respect a piece of cloth painted red and blue.

nobody should be compelled to stand for it

You're right. Those people are free to quit, and go play for another professional league.

Why would they do that when they can simply keep playing for the NFL, and peacefully protesting at the same time?

Seems like a win-win.

Tough for you Trumpcucks, because in your Anti-American attempt to disrespect our troops, our country, and our flag, you look like special snowflakes with egg on your face, and, once again, Total Failed Losers

His approval ratings seem to differ with you.

Kinda like all those polls in the days before November 8th.

"How DARE you question 538?! He WILL lose!! Polls are accurate, it's science, just like 32 Genders!"

So post an accurate poll

"A win for me coming out of those meetings is that everyone's on the same page and trying to help the people in this country and use our game, which unites people from all different races, all different areas, all different levels of income, for one moment, for these games," Smith said to NBC Sports Philadelphia. "And there's no better platform than for us to work together and try to benefit our country.

"Our owners have the power to impact a lot of lives in terms of whether it's financially or their guidance. I feel like it's our duty. Obviously, we're playing ball but the fans that are cheering us on, the fans that are working in these stadiums, the fans that are working in these neighborhoods are affected by some of the things that we're fighting for.

"If anyone thinks it's not an issue for us to be involved in as athletes or the owners of the NFL, then you're looking at it dead wrong."

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) October 10, 2017

So many amazing tweets today. He knows he won this. Jerry Jones tried to split the difference but the public wasn't fooled, so now he's requiring them to stand.

Can you show proof of this?

Or would you prefer to call it #FakeNews, and retract it?
