The three co-founders of Fusion GPS, the opposition research firm responsible for overseeing the creation of the infamous “Trump dossier”, will refuse to comply with a subpoena ordered by House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes, according to a letter from their attorneys originally obtained by Business Insider.

But experts say the argument their lawyers are using to ask that they be excused relies on shaky legal grounds, and is unlikely to hold.

The move - which has all the hallmarks of a stalling tactic - is the latest attempt by the firm’s founders, who reportedly were aware that not all of the allegations contained in the dossier were credible before turning it over to the FBI, to forestall delivering public testimony.

However, Simpson and his fellow Fusion GPS co-founders Thomas Catan and Peter Fritsch, plan to invoke constitutional privileges and decline to testify before the House Intelligence Committee, their attorney wrote in a letter obtained by Business Insider on Monday.

Levy argued that complying with the subpoenas would violate "the First Amendment rights" of the cofounders "and would chill any American running for office ... from conducting confidential opposition research in an election."

(yes, they should be able to publish all LIES, and False information on a candidate in an election, it's their 1st amendment right)

In summary, after months of resisting investigators’ overtures, it looks like the men behind Fusion GPS will finally be forced to answer some uncomfortable questions about the role they played in fostering the current climate of anti-Russia hysteria. We look forward to hearing what they have to say.

If you read more than zerohedge, you might get the real story.

"Attorney Levy said the firm is also cooperating on a voluntary basis with the Senate intelligence committee"

They'll talk with unbiased investigators, but Nunes is obviously far, far from unbiased as his behavior before the recusal clearly showed.

Is Nunes the only member on the committee? Isn't your biased buddy, asshole Adam Schiff, on it too. Is Nunes the only one to make a determination on the information collected?

Well, if you read the article I posted, you'd see that despite Nunes having recused himself, he's the only one who signed off on the subpoena. Because the only reason he wants to question Fusion is to find out who hired them. Not whether the info is correct. Not to try to corroborate the dossier. Not to investigate Trump's ties to Russia.

And that is why they are refusing.

Actually they don't care if I post any sources on here. I get paid by the word.

Is the indignant right going to prove anything in the dossier was false? Are they saving that for Christmas?

Even better, tell us what was proven TRUE in it.

Trump Dossier Creators 'Plead Da Fif' During House Intel Hearings.

Is it just us, or are the only people refusing to testify during Washington's ever-decreasing circle of Russiagate witch-hunting, the leftists who cast the largest aspersions in the first place?

Two of the co-founders of Fusion GPS, the opposition research firm behind the infamous Trump dossier, invoked their Fifth Amendment rights during a meeting with the House Intelligence Committee on Wednesday, a person familiar with the matter told The Daily Caller.

As a reminder, Fusion was working for an ally of Hillary Clinton’s last June when the firm hired Steele to investigate Donald Trump’s personal and business activities in Russia. The result is a 35-page document full of salacious and uncorroborated allegations about Trump and his campaign associates. The dossier has been cited by the FBI as part of its investigation into possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian operatives.

Congressional Republicans have questioned the FBI’s decision to rely on the dossier given that its most sensational allegations have not been proved. They are also interested in who hired Fusion.

And now, during a meeting with the House Intelligence Committee on Wednesday, Thomas Catan (left) and Peter Fritsch (right), the two Fusion GPS partners, reportedly plead the Fifth “to every question asked of them,”

t was unclear from that letter whether the Fusion partners planned to plead the Fifth, which protects witnesses from self-incrimination.

And now we know.. one wonders what they have to hide?

Heh, of course they prefer the Anti-American Senate.

Did Fusion GPS pay for a libel smear? Also, Carter Page should file a defamation suit in the UK as Steele is a UK National.

The British and unknown Russian co-conspirators (assuming Steele didn't just make them up) interfered in the Election, we must know who these foreign actors were and who paid them.

lol--you have truly lost your mind.

They didn't want to talk with the Nunes smear campaign. He's already had to recuse himself because he lied and was caught. Now he wanted to try to use the pretense of an investigation to play politics.

If anyone is Anti-American, it's Nunes.

Oh, he didn't make them up. Most of the dossier has been independently verified and confirmed.

They didn't interfere, they investigated. I thought you were pro-transparency. The truth must come out, right? Or do you only want the truth coming out when it's bad for Dems?

Why bother? You'll just ignore it like you have done the last 5 times I posted it.

Most Senators work for multi-national corporations. Every few years they make noise on a cultural issue to make it look like the election is about something.

Actually they do have a pretty good idea of the Russian source:

It was a different Michael Cohen than the one that got his ass handed to him by Brianna Keilar. (Who says??!!??)

Well, that wasn't actually what the dossier claimed. Trump paid for prostitutes to pee on the bed in which the Obamas had slept. He clearly was, and still is, fixated on Obama for some reason.

Bob and JoeyJoeJoe are fine with foreign influence on US Elections. And with American Donors/Groups paying for their 'products'.

Sad.

That's funny. I support investigation and transparency to make sure we keep foreign influence out of our elections as much as possible.

Why don't you? What are you afraid an investigation will find?

As usual you talk nonsense. You are the one screaming about the trump investigation being fake. Where have i defended foreign influence on the elections? Show me.

I have no idea what the meaningless babble about donors means. But you are pretty incoherent a lot so that would be baseline.

Yes, I always believe a radical lefty guy making Youtube videos out of his spare bedroom. He's so credible

So, please detail what he is wrong about and why. I would think that would be easy to do since he is such a radical leftie filming in his spare bedroom. A mental giant such as yourself should have no problem pointing out the flaws in his logic.

Please amaze me.
