In the run-up to the approval of the deal by the State Department, nine shareholders of Uranium One just happened to make $145mm in donations to the Clinton Foundation. Moreover, the New Yorker confirmed that Bill Clinton received $500,000 in speaking fees from a Russian investment bank, with ties to the Kremlin, around the same time. Needless to say, the State Department approved the deal giving Russia ownership of 20% of U.S. uranium assets

Russian Purchase of US Uranium Assets in Return for $145mm in Contributions to the Clinton Foundation - Bill and Hillary Clinton assisted a Canadian financier, Frank Giustra, and his company, Uranium One, in the acquisition of uranium mining concessions in Kazakhstan and the United States. Subsequently, the Russian government sought to purchase Uranium One but required approval from the Obama administration given the strategic importance of the uranium assets.

Now, thanks to newly released affidavits from a case that landed one of the Russian co-conspirators, Vadim Mikerin, in jail, we learn that not only was the Obama administration aware the Russians' illegal acts in the U.S. but it may have also been fully aware that "Russian nuclear officials had routed millions of dollars to the U.S. designed to benefit former President Bill Clinton’s charitable foundation during the time Secretary of State Hillary Clinton served on a government body that provided a favorable decision to Moscow."

And guess who ran the FBI's investigation into this particular Russian plot? As The Hill notes, the Mikerin probe began in 2009 under Robert Mueller, now the special counsel in charge of the Trump case, and ended in late 2015 under the controversial, former FBI Director James Comey who was relieved of his duties by President Trump.

Perhaps this is what the "most transparent" President in history meant when he told Medvedev that he would have "more flexibility" after his 2012 election.

FBI uncovered Russian bribery plot before Obama administration approved controversial nuclear deal with Moscow

Before the Obama administration approved a controversial deal in 2010 giving Moscow control of a large swath of American uranium, the FBI had gathered substantial evidence that Russian nuclear industry officials were engaged in bribery, kickbacks, extortion and money laundering designed to grow Vladimir Putin’s atomic energy business inside the United States, according to government documents and interviews.

Federal agents used a confidential U.S. witness working inside the Russian nuclear industry to gather extensive financial records, make secret recordings and intercept emails as early as 2009 that showed Moscow had compromised an American uranium trucking firm with bribes and kickbacks in violation of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, FBI and court documents show.

They also obtained an eyewitness account — backed by documentsindicating Russian nuclear officials had routed millions of dollars to the U.S. designed to benefit former President Bill Clinton’s charitable foundation during the time Secretary of State Hillary Clinton served on a government body that provided a favorable decision to Moscow, sources told The Hill.

“The Russians were compromising American contractors in the nuclear industry with kickbacks and extortion threats, all of which raised legitimate national security concerns. And none of that evidence got aired before the Obama administration made those decisions,” a person who worked on the case told The Hill

Then-Attorney General Eric Holder was among the Obama administration officials joining Hillary Clinton on the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States at the time the Uranium One deal was approved.

What exactly is it in that highlighted page of text that you find problematic? More to the point, why are those parts highlighted?

Backed by documents? The Clinton Foundation is a public trust you idiot. The documents are public record and filed with the IRS. Did you just find out about what has been public record for years?

The state department doesn't approve foreign investment in the US. Despite the very deceptive name it's the committee on foreign investment that approves foreign investments. State Department is 1 vote of 16 at the committee on foreign investment in the United States. Hillary wasn't even there. State was represented by assistant secretary Jose Fernandez on the uranium vote.

I'm convinced that in an effort to stay relevant zero hedge ceded control to angry retirees who have nothing better to do then give highly manipulative takes on what is going on.

this in turn triggers other angry retirees, thus allowing enough eyeballs and clicks to keep the lights on. Still, compared to how groundbreaking ZH was during the heady days of 2009, how the mighty have fallen.

FBI Kept Russian Bribery Plot Under Wraps Before Obama Administration Approved Nuclear Deal With Moscow.

The Obama administration signed a controversial nuclear deal with Moscow despite prior FBI findings that Russian officials were bribing their way into the U.S. atomic energy industry, according to government documents just published by The Hill.

A confidential U.S. witness deployed by the FBI infiltrated Russia’s nuclear industry and made secret recordings, collected financial records and intercepted emails dating back to 2009 that showed that Moscow engaged in bribery and kickbacks with an American uranium trucking company, documents show.

The deal that boosted Vladimir Putin’s nuclear footprint in the U.S. took place in October 2010 when the State Department and the Committee on Foreign Investment unanimously agreed to a partial sale of Uranium One, a Canadian mining company, to the major Russian nuclear company Rosatom, effectively sending more than 20 percent of the U.S.’s uranium to Moscow.

Then-U.S. Attorney Rod Rosenstein, who was appointed by Obama and now works as President Donald Trump’s deputy attorney general, and then-Assistant FBI Director Andrew McCabe, who serves as deputy FBI director under Trump, supervised the investigation, documents show.

FBI agents also gathered documents and a witness account that Russian officials routed millions of dollars to ex-President Bill Clinton’s charitable foundation while Secretary of State Hillary Clinton sat on a committee that gave a nod to the dealings with Moscow.

“Not providing information on a corruption scheme before the Russian uranium deal was approved by U.S. regulators and engage appropriate congressional committees has served to undermine U.S. national security interests by the very people charged with protecting them,” Rogers said, short of labeling it a coverup.

Oh Bobby, talking about stupid, did you see the second post in this thread. It was the story as posted on The Hill. You really need to work on that Reading Comprehension issue's you're having instead of the typical "Get off My Grass" responses you post day after day.

Why are you always so cranky?

Nice job ducking and shucking. So how much did the Russians pay for the other 14 votes? Where is the story on that? Run piggy run.

What big deal do you see? Hillary's private server was a big deal. This is a bunch of random unrelated bullshit strung together. The Hill is really trying to make the case that the FBI and justice department sat on indictable offences so the uranium deal could be signed then continued to sit on them for another 4 years. For what? Ridiculous. There are so many errors and misstatements in the article that to call it reporting is absurd. There are documents showing that donations were made to the clinton foundation? Duh. Of course there were, it's public record. It's a public foundation, all donations are public record unlike trumps private foundation.

Same question, how much did the Russians pay for the other 14 votes on the deal and where is the story on that? Show me the money.

If it were something this bogus about trump and the republicans then yes I would consider it no big deal. I consider the clintons one step below pond scum. Go look at all the virulently anti hillary posts I made during the campaign. Only the must rabid trumptards (CIC, TBP,twoscoops) could possibly buy into this story.

Team Obama’s stunning cover-up of Russian crimes.

It turns out the Obama administration knew the Russians were engaged in bribery, kickbacks and extortion in order to gain control of US atomic resources — yet still OK’d that 2010 deal to give Moscow control of one-fifth of America’s uranium. This reeks.

Peter Schweizer got onto part of the scandal in his 2015 book, “Clinton Cash”: the gifts of $145 million to the Clinton Foundation, and the $500,000 fee to Bill for a single speech, by individuals involved in a deal that required Hillary Clinton’s approval.

The New York Times confirmed and followed up on Schweizer’s reporting — all of it denounced by Hillary as a partisan hit job.

The bureau even flagged the routing of millions from Russian nuclear officials to cutouts and on to Clinton Inc.

The Obama administration — anxious to “reset” US-Russian relations — kept it all under wraps, refusing to tell even top congressional intelligence figures.

And when the Obamaites in 2014 filed low-level criminal charges against a single individual over what the FBI found, they did so with little public fanfare.

“The Russians were compromising American contractors in the nuclear industry with kickbacks and extortion threats, all of which raised legitimate national security concerns,” one veteran of the case told The Hill.

There’s more: Until September 2013, the FBI director was Robert Mueller — who’s now the special counsel probing Russian meddling in the 2016 election. It’s hard to see how he can be trusted in that job unless he explains what he knew about this Obama-era cover-up.

How did Schweizer know in 2015??
