Infant mortality and children dying at 2, 4, 6 or 10 years of age, mothers dying in childbirth, people dying of bacterial infections etc are what brought the average age of death down in ancient times. Not to mention all the violence. Also, it was hard to have a balanced diet, even if what you could get was fresh and pesticide free.
It's not that it was impossible to make it to 80 back then.
The caption goes on to read: We shit close to home with no sanitation We don't boil our drinking water We bathe infrequently and have horrible hygiene We have no immunizations, no notion of germ theory, and our primitive remedies amount to rubbing bark chips on our ass We constantly seek out, and slaughter by hand, strange animals in the dirt and jungles Foreign blood and fluids often end up in open cuts we have on our hands, or in us as we wipe our eyes and mouths We suffer from mass stress and worry as we scratch a hand to mouth existence out of an environment we have little control over We are riddled with parasites and disease
Oh, that must be why we don't live much past thirty.
