Yes, Let's Tax The Rich MORE, oh wait, they're the ones paying the bills NOW! Don't give them a tax cut!

It came in a discussion before students of the school's Institute of Politics and Public Service at the McCourt School of Public Policy. The discussion was directed by Cathy Koch, a tax expert and former Senate aide.

When the two turned to the taxes the rich pay, Mulvaney declared, "The top 20 percent of folks who file a tax return, the top 20 percent, pay 95 percent of the taxes."

That may be the highest ever. Just two years ago, it was 84 percent, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Any tax cut for middle income earners will also provide a benefit for those further up the income scale, including the top 20 percent who pay 95 percent of all income taxes, according to the director of the Office of Management and Budget.

You are ignoring FICA taxes dumb-ass. Who do you think is paying the payroll tax? https://www.cbpp.org/research/federal-tax/policy-basics-where-do-federal-tax-revenues-come-from
What about the budget deficit, what do you propose to cut if there is a tax cut for the rich?

Headline: Top 20% has almost all the income, yet complain loudly about taxes.

They should try being in the bottom 20% of income, if they are so sore about paying taxes.

Seriously, do you read your own links????

Do you know what Payroll tax is? You obviously did not read my link. Patrick recommends an excellent book called How to lie with statistics. You fall for that shit all the time.

In piggy's world, payroll taxes don't count when discussing who pays taxes. Social security and medicare do count as Government expenses though. It's a very convenient system for cerebrally vacuous cheerleaders. Is piggy a bot?

You are the idiot here. How about that budget deficit?
7   joeyjojojunior   2017 Oct 27, 9:01am

Here's a clue for you. When the top 1% has 90% of the wealth, by default, they are going to have to pay the majority of the taxes.
8   HEY YOU   2017 Oct 27, 9:17am

Stupid poor Ds & Rs work for nothing, making the Rich richer while the Rich bitch about taxes.
If the poor walk off the job,how long will the Rich be rich?
The poor have all the power. It's sad they are to stupid to realize it. I guess that's why they are poor.
Being not stupid is a virtue?
The poor can shut down the economy & collapse the country by simply not going to work.
The masses of poor can take the Rich's wealth any time they choose.

You sound salty as fuck. Don't want to be poor, stop complaining about other people having money and make your own.
10   WineHorror   2017 Oct 27, 11:28am

The rich aren't hurting and they make their money from rent seeking.

Where does one find people to tax...the guy with empty pockets or the guy with money bags?

Anything taken from my paycheck is a tax, because if it were up to me, I'd keep it all. Using that calculation I pay upwards of 40% to taxes. Serfs only got taxed at 25%.

Notice how sniper does not answer any deficit questions. It does not matter anymore that we are piling on debt under Trump.

Yes we need re-distributive policies the lower and middle class folks can pay more taxes.

For every dollar the government spends on government jobs, 30 to 40 cents comes back in tax revenues.

This is why democrat "tax and spend" is far better than republican "borrow and spend" policies.

I think you got that backwards. Who feeds the rich?

Capitalism, entrepreneurs, hard work etc. Are you saying the welfare bums and queens feed the rich?

The people working and adding value feed the rich. Do you suppose henry ford made all those model t's with his own hands?

If it wasn't for the poor, the rich would never be rich.

The rich need the poor but the inverse isn't true.

You mean poor like the the welfare queens and bums who never did a honest day's work? No-one needs them.

The people working and adding value got paid for their input. Entrepreneurs like Henry Ford who created the assembly line got paid for theirs.
Why are you complaining?

Where do you see a complaint? It was a simple declarative statement followed by a semi sarcastic question. . Henry Ford didn't make a dime for inventing the assembly line. He made money by people assembling things on the assembly line to sell.

Were Bill Gates, Larry Page, Mark Zuckenberg, or Jeff Bezos rich when they started their companies? The answer is no. So there is a different between job creators and rich people that live off investment income. You seem to think that rich people that invest in bonds should get a tax cut.

If the rich didn't go out on a limb and take a chance, these "poor" people would never get the chance to HAVE a job.

They should THANK the rich people for giving them the opportunity to earn a living. Sadly, a socialist like you will never understand that point.

An assembly worker in Venezuela probably gets the average $28.00 per month. I believe that's what many American assembly workers gets in an hour. Instead of being grateful for such high wages, the American worker curses the business owners.

American worker pays into payroll tax that funds our DOD budget. American worker has the right to demand more than someone in Venezuela.

They have no right to blackmail businesses for undeserved, above market wages. It's just a Mafia way of doing business.

If those guys never took a chance, started a business in their garage, went out on a limb, worked 100 hours a week, there never would have been a company later on hiring hundreds of people. They got rich by taking a chance

Exactly my point. They were not rich when they started and created lots of jobs.

That's something YOU'LL never do.

I've done it already.

Unbelievable, you FIRST have to EARN the income to invest

That would be people like trump and the koch bro's who earned their money the old fashioned way, they inherited it.
29   joeyjojojunior   2017 Oct 29, 4:51pm

Why do you always put emotion into the discussion? Nobody is evil just because they make a higher income.

But, fiscal policy should be based on what tax levels produce the strongest economy. History has shown that allowing wealth to concentrate leads to huge problems so the tax structure should be designed to prevent it.
30   Strategist   2017 Oct 29, 7:59pm

Can you believe how evil those "rich" people are? We should take all their "high" incomes, after all, it's for the children, right?

Those evil rich people are exploiting the rest of us. They use us, profit off the wealth we create, and then let us starve to death. How dare they make more then average.

CIC, you're very worked up tonight. I do point out how income and wealth inequality leads to economic problems. I do NOT, however, ever call anyone evil because they make a high salary. Or own a business.
