Apparently, her entire career (FWTW, not much) is built around hating on Whites, esp. Males.

Her second album, that nobody would touch, was self-published like every garage band on Youtube and last.fm etc. that won some prize nobody ever heard of. Whic h I'm guessing is some no-account Canadian prize because it's called "Polaris Prize" so not really interested.

Given her first act in Canada was to attend college for a BS Degree in Art Criticism, and she already spoke English well enough to attend college, $5 says her parents are fairly well off or better. PS The Polaris Prize is only for "Canadian Artists" without regard to genre, etc. It's done by jury selection, like the Sci-Fi Hugo Awards, and since membership is small and most don't submit any nominees, it's real easy to nominate your friends and "allies". I believe the Hugos were subverted by Vox Day not long ago, himself and his supporters managed to rig the awards away from SJWs and to Right Wing Authors, to much wailing and gnashing of the teeth.
