After months of getting themselves worked up about hearings featuring a hero once accused of rigging the election for Donald Trump and Don Jr.'s inability to sniff out Nigerian prince emails, spectators of the Russia game have finally gotten what they wanted: indictments.

Unfortunately, the indictments of former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort and his business partner Richard Gates have nothing whatever to do with "collusion," however broadly defined. Politically speaking, we have learned nothing except what we already knew: namely, that a shady businessman who briefly worked for the Trump campaign is, in fact, a very shady businessman indeed, one who has just pled not guilty to failing to register as a foreign agent on behalf of the Ukrainian puppet government and not declaring all of his income derived from his essentially pro-Kremlin lobbying.

Even George Papadopoulos' guilty plea is no smoking gun. The former foreign policy adviser to the Trump campaign admits that he lied about email exchanges with a shadowy figure known as "the professor" who had promised Russian "dirt" on Clinton. But as far as we can tell, his communications with Dr. Dirt went nowhere.

Papadopoulos also made vague references in his emails to "meetings" with Russian officials that probably did not end up taking place, which seems important only if you ignore the fact that presidential candidates, especially after securing their parties' nominations, routinely meet with foreign leaders, even heads of state.

Monday's revelations don't in themselves mean anything other than that Jeff Sessions' Justice Department is keeping Mueller on a very long leash.

It needs to be shortened. The purpose of the investigation is to determine whether the presidential campaign of Donald Trump knowingly colluded with the Russian government in the hope of altering the outcome of the 2016 election, not to see whether any person even loosely connected with the former could be found guilty of any crime, including perjury.

He's either a Son of a bitch or a real mother Fucker.
I haven't figured it out yet.

Something tells me the biggest plot twist ever is waiting at the end of this story.

You are really really funny today piggy. So 4 years of bengazi investigations that produced nothing was far too short, but 6 months of far more complex investigations that have produced indictments and guilty pleas is too short. ROFLOL.

Spin, spin, spin.

6 months?? Come on Bullshit Bobby, don't you remember the TDS people here claiming 17 intelligence agencies were investigating since the Summer of 2016? 17 agencies, and they haven't found a single thread of evidence?? Really??

So, how do you get a guilty plea with no evidence? Mueller really is amazing, huh?

Why don't you ask the scores of people who plead guilty to rape and other serious charges and were freed later by DNA evidence how our wonderful criminal justice works.

You going to keep running with the narrative that this two bit volunteer is the proof to the whole Russian collusion story with Trump?

lol-so now you're pretending that I said it's proof? Your statement was:

Are you still going with that even after a guy pled guilty??

If he's innocent, why doesn't Trump defend him? He was one of Trump's top foreign advisers early in the campaign (according to Trump at the time). Lately, Trump is sending old lazy eye out to tell the Press that Popa-who was an unpaid intern of no consequence.

Guilty to lying to The FBI. That’s the charge. Lying about what, you ask? Lying about talking to Russians who were promising some opposition research.

And since you’ve firmly established that oppo research is perfectly legit, then this goes nowhere further because the charge is, was, and will be simple lying.

Try again troll.

Yep--so why did he lie then?

Stupid Republicans!
I'm invoking my 5th Amendment rights.
But they have to run their mouths.
Keep your mouth shut & you can't lie.
Republicans are absolutely frozen not knowing what Mueller & State Attorneys General
have in their Halloween basket of evidence. You scary kids, reach in there & get a surprise.

Mueller might end up indicting all Republicans.
It should be crime that they breath.

He told one story to the FBI about emails he sent, then when the FBI went searching for these emails, his story ended up being a lie. He buried himself, it had NOTHING to do with Russian collusion.

If it had nothing to do with collusion WHY did he lie. I didn't ask how he lied---I asked why he lied. Why did he tell a story to the FBI knowing that it was against the law??

Because he's a fucked up, Special Snowflake, 29 year old who probably got caught up in the moment trying to be a big shot.

Or he was trying to cover something up.

Lol at the image of the dead horse.

I haven't seen that since Piggy posted the pics he claimed were the guys powerwashing the Ebola vomit off the sidewalk in Dallas...

Yes because we all know dogs never go outside, and they never have fleas, and of of course fleas don't then bite rats, and of course Rats don't spread disease.

That's a good question. We'll have to let Mueller get to the bottom of this. Anyone here who knows otherwise is talking out of their ass and maybe even a paid troll. He pled gulity on October 5 and we just found out about it.

Yesterday there was talk that Papa D is only a small part of this investigation. He got caught in a lie. Why did he lie? Time will tell.

You've said it here yourself you start with the small fish and work your way up. Papa D is small fish they have moved on to Manafort and his buddy. We will have to wait and see were this goes.
20   marcus   2017 Nov 1, 10:11am

Mueller is not running Amok. But he does have some good negotiation leverage for getting info ( about collusion with Russia ) from these guys. Just seems smart to me.

Amazing what info people might be willing to give up in exchange for shorter prison time.

After a year and a half, this is the best they have got, after 17 intelligence agencies were looking for information?

They should have 10 truckloads of evidence by now (if the collusion really happened).

So where is this info?? The 17 intelligence agencies worked on the case for a year, and handed off all that info to Mueller and his crew 6 months ago. After a year and a half, all they have is 2 guys on tax evasion (from BEFORE the campaign) and a volunteer Millennial lying about some emails he sent?

That's a pretty poor showing and weak case, based on all the resources these guys have at their disposal.
23   anonymous   2017 Nov 1, 7:26pm

Who says their done showing their hand ? Maybe they're simply improving their case, before they make it.

Look, it's simple. If you're right they won't ever show a case of collusion. Maybe it didn't happen. Or maybe it's hard to put it together, and they will eventually. We just don't know yet. Calm down.

I'm very calm.

I'm just pissed at seeing my tax dollars go to a fake witch hunt. With all the resources and intelligence available to the federal government, after a year and a half, they should already have the criminals in jail, not coming up with some lame charges now.

Hell, the NSA has every email, text and phone conversation they ever made, it should be really easy to pull evidence, if it really existed.

You are right piggy.. After a year and a half of all the resorurces of the federal government clinton should be in jail.

I think Trump made a bad choice with Sessions. Sessions was a member of the swamp for 20 years as a Senator. It's like putting the fox in charge of the hen house.

Comey had most of them, (except the 30,000 she deleted), he even outlined all her felonies for everyone:

So why isn't she in jail?
