Land of Lincoln, IL- challenge the unions- go to jail
If I was Amazon I would not bother going to Illinois for HQ2. Lots of business friendly states to pick from.
I'd generally agree, but here in IL, politicians are easily bough

I'd generally agree, but here in IL, politicians are easily bought. So Amazon could get what it wants anytime here in IL with just a little money thrown at it. I'm saying this a little sarcastically, but honestly now that I'm typing it out, Amazon being able to easily bribe the IL government at anytime is actually a benefit to them.
Why does this state keep voting democrats?? High taxes, high corruption, high property taxes and nothing in return. Oh now they wnat to throw you in jail for fighting unions.

I was with you until this line. IL has been wrecked by both parties. It's had a Republican Governor more often than not over the last 40 years and nothing changes. Big Jim Thompson was as corrupt as any Democrat...
They just raised the gas tax again, and now a gallon is in the low $3.00's
Clearly, the state is democrat and union controlled

Tell me which party votes for tax increases and doe snot touch the unions at all. By unions I don't mean coal workers or workers in dangerous jobs-but fat slobs shuffling paper or other such dumb jobs?
Any IL guys catch this classic in the making? We're just about a year away from the election and this type of shit has been all over network tv for months now. Both sides and the dems don't even have an official candidate. Hell I've heard of interest from some Rebubs putting up a primary challenger to Rauner. Next year is going to suck if you watch any network tv. Although I suppose the local affiliates we be jizzing their pants over the ad revenue.
Right now Chicago is bringing some higher paying jobs and the people moving out aren't necessarily a negative at this point. So we're losing people, but I'm not sure we're losing much tax revenue. That said, the coming tax increases to continue to fund the pensions, and believe me they're 100% coming, can result in the exodus going parabolic with middle to upper middle class fleeing. I predict IL income taxes will hit double digits in the next 5-10 years. I really don't see a way around it.
You'll have to be more specific. Let's look at individual bills
Exhibit A, why the democrats get re-elected.
We’ve long suspected that many Illinois Democrats would tax sunshine and bakery scents if they could. Look at how Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle went after soda by the ounce. Our advice: Enjoy what you can while you can, because you never know what’s next. The beverage tax (soon to be history, thankfully) seems a nuisance compared to a nasty corollary we saw recently employed by Democrats in Springfield: It’s a disturbing worldview, but this is the political pattern in Illinois: Do everything to benefit those who can deliver money and campaign muscle. Everyone else, including most taxpayers and employers, can get lost. Our example today is a pro-union bill in the Democrat-controlled ...
