Thanks to modern farming methods, some chicken sold in stores has more than three times the fat it’s supposed to, and this can be observed in the stripes of white tissue running through the meat.

“White striping” occurs when factory farmers breed birds to grow faster and larger, a practice Compassion in World Farming brought to light in a recent video. This can lead to adverse health effects for chickens, including muscular tissue disorders. Sometimes the disorders manifest in white lines that cut through the meat, creating a striped or “wooden” appearance.

The condition isn’t just bad news for chickens. In 2013, scientists from the University of Bologna in Italy reported that chicken with white striping exceeded normal fat content by 224 percent. But that doesn’t mean meat-eaters should drop poultry from their diets for good. Chicken still tends to have less cholesterol and saturated fat than red meat, and products with the muscular disorders are rare.

That being said, shoppers looking to cut extra fat from their meals should learn to spot white striping so they can avoid it at the supermarket.

All chicken has a lot of fat. It's no surprise that a chicken that could barely walk if it had the room is going to be fattier than a free roaming traditional bird.

Those are snotlines indicating the severity of previous viral infections the bird withstood.

Many of our farm animals are just organic machines. but then all those welfare freaks maybe should be asked to work on organic farm the old fashioned way-problem solved.

People eating industrialized chicken parts should be less worried about fat, and more worried about the anti-biotics, GMO's, diseases, and bleach they're ingesting.

they're ingesting.
You forgot to specify antibiotic resistant bacteria. I don't know why anybody is eating this shit anymore.

Almost half (49.7 percent) carried at least one type of bacterium resistant to at least three classes of antibiotics.

I generalized it. The good news is there seems to be a growing trend of eating healthier. But we have a lot of years of bad dietary habits to unlearn.

Don't do that. It's much more effective to state that there are antibiotic resistant bacteria on half of the chicken in the supermarket, and it's factually correct. Saying that chicken was fed antibiotics does not give people a clear idea of what is on the chicken. Saying that they should worry about the diseases they are ingesting is a bit confusing, sounds made up, and cannot be backed up by facts.

"93% of Americans Have Glyphosate in their Bodies.."
Republican pretzel logic ideology makes them immune.

I think any recalls can back up this assertion. Also, why do they need the antibiotics in the first place? But yes, drug resistant bacteria getting a first class ticket to your internal organs does sound scary.
