I don't think that this add helped at all. It probably angers Republicans and motivates them to vote. It's hardly deplorable though. Gillespie's been putting out equally dishonest adds himself.

IL will get in the gutter once the dems get their guy, at least IL republicans are having fun with it for now. Side note: Scott Walker looks like a fucking creep in this ad, Jesus. Posted this before, but this makes me laugh my ass off.

I am a member of the local Vietnamese Buddhist Temple Sangha (congregation) having done gui an the other qualifications at my Vietnamese wife’s urging. If I were running for guv of California they could make a nice attack ad by zooming into one of the temple statutes with a swastika, a 2600 year-old symbol in Buddhism. “This is the church Georg D worships at.” Quick cut to photos of my youthful military service holding an automatic weapon camouflaged up, or in a dark blue mess dress blue uniform with blonde hair and blue eyes, fuzzing the US Army tags and symbols out, and giving the impression of a character from either Fatherland or “The Man in the High Castle” movies. “Is this really the man to represent all of California in its diversity?” All based on some truth, but blown way out of context. Why not.
