All this time, we were told by the "experts" that Antarctic was melting because of Global Warming. Apparent the science ISN'T settled.

Antarctica is getting a little hot under the collar.

Just under the frozen wasteland of the world's coldest continent are some seriously hot rocks, which are helping to melt its ice sheet and create lakes and rivers, a study found.

How hot? Try 1,800 degrees. The heat produced by the scorching hot rocks — officially known as a mantle plume — was measured at 150 milliwatts per square meter. That's not far from the heat produced under Yellowstone National Park, which is measured at about 200 milliwatts per square meter.

The goal of the study was to figure out how the ice sheet was able to stay frozen with such a warm mantle plume underneath and to determine the amount of heat provided by the plume to the base of the ice sheet.

Additionally, understanding the sources and future of the meltwater under West Antarctica is important for estimating the rate at which ice may be lost to the ocean in the future, she added.

NASA Discovers Mantle Plume Almost as Hot as Yellowstone Supervolcano That's Melting Antarctica From Below.

A mantle plume producing almost as much heat as Yellowstone supervolcano appears to be melting part of West Antarctica from beneath.

Researchers at NASA have discovered a huge upwelling of hot rock under Marie Byrd Land, which lies between the Ross Ice Shelf and the Ross Sea, is creating vast lakes and rivers under the ice sheet. The presence of a huge mantle plume could explain why the region is so unstable today, and why it collapsed so quickly at the end of the last Ice Age, 11,000 years ago.

Mantle plumes are thought to be part of the plumbing systems that brings hot material up from Earth’s interior. Once it gets through the mantle, it spreads out under the crust, providing magma for volcanic eruptions. The area above a plume is known as a hotspot.

So you don't believe NASA now? Maybe if we just had some peer reviewed papers, that would make it more believable, right?

You know what that article is saying, and it quite obviously isn't what you are stating. You are just playing the fool as usual. Grow up.

Crap, don't you Alarmists just hate when FACTS destroy your narrative???????

It doesn't destroy anything. Obviously. Please feel free to enlighten us all on NASA's views on climate change as distinct from the very localized effect of a mantle plume. But hey, feel free to continue embarrassing yourself.

Piggy has a lot of trouble with the word global in global warming. Wait a couple months for when he starts complaining that he had a couple cold winter days in NJ so there is no global warming. .

All the glaciers & other ice in the world have been melting because of Antarctic's hot spot.
The science is settled.

Plus habitat is migrating world wide. That's also because of the Antarctic hot spot.

Sorry, I messed up. It should have been the new narrative, Climate Change, since Global Warming hasn't happened. Calling it "Climate Change" by the "Alarmists" is soo much better, well because, the climate is ALWAYS changing.

Feel better now?

Climate change is caused by a mantle plume in antarctica? That's a very interesting theory, did you come up with that by yourself?

Yeah, let’s us all just ignore the thousands of scientists and millions of hours of research that say the two of you are spouting nonsense.

1985": Iknoyuwanalaymi Atoll is only a foot above sea level. In the next 3-4 years, it will sink beneath the sea.
1990: Iknoyuwanalaymi Atoll may only have but half a decade before this island, laying only a foot above sea level, sinks beneath the waves, as the waters rise two inches a year.
1995: Researchers warn that Iknoyuwanalaymi Atoll's population of Sooty Terns may not survive the imminent sinking of the coral island due to Global Warming, expected within the next decade.
2000: Dr. Mayfield of the UN Makework Council advises that the Iknoyuwanalaymi Island situation is critical. Takalaka, the chief of the small Pacific Island, is asking the UN for $30M dollars as the Island sinks by an inch a year.
2005: ...and so Prime Minister Takalaka was arrested in Switzerland today according to Interpol. Next on NOVA: Iknoyuwanalaymi Island - this Island is precariously situated in the Pacific Ocean. Will it be the first inhabited island to be lost to Climate Change? Next, on NOVA (cue music).
2010: Samantha Powers told the UN today that action must be taken on climate change, or Iknoyuwanalaime Island could disappear forever. "It's going to happen in the next 3, 4, 5 years. 1000s of Scientists say it will. It is time for action, we must outsource all manufacturing to the Third World, where emissions will be halted under the new Global Enviro Pact."
2015: National Geograph visits Iknoyuwanalaime Island, where, barely a foot over sea level, the Island is rapidly sinking under the waves by an inch per year.

Act NOW to save Iknoyuwanalaime Atoll, laying a mere foot above sea level, which has been facing an inch of sea level rise per year since scientists first rang the alarm bells 30 years ago.

The climate changes continually. Have you walked outside yet today?

Really sad you don't know the difference between climate and weather.

Please don't ever post anything from Guy McPherson. The dude is an alarmist turdeating hack. A real piece of shit with no ethics or integrity. His screeching is a real disservice to legitimate scientists who study climate change & hope to do something about it.
