From Autodesk Labs in San Fran:
Robots excel at many tasks, as long as they don’t involve too much hand-eye coordination or common sense. Like some gifted children, they can perform impressive feats of mental arithmetic but are profoundly klutzy on the playground.

The machines stumble over tasks requiring even toddler-level balance, like kicking a ball, getting out of a car or climbing stairs. Grasping objects of varying size and weight is also perplexing.

At a research lab in San Francisco recently, a robot tried to pick up a block of wood from a table. One engineer joked the machine had a 50-50 chance. The robot rammed the table instead.

...

The lab has had to keep a close watch on a particularly cantankerous 3D-printing robot welder. The machine once was building two metal tubes, alternating between laying down rings of molten metal on each. As it switched between the two tubes, the robo blacksmith started spewing hot metal.

Researchers intervened and quickly shut it down.

...

Another time, following a lunch break (for the humans), the robot welder forgot what it was doing. Like most machines, it has no sense of how much progress it has made on a job. When called back to work, it started over.

“If we had let it proceed,” Ms. Kerrick says, “it would have crashed right into the pieces it had already made.”

Imagine a Robot flipping burgers, continuing to flip burgers as a grease fire rages. Right now, at bleeding edge labs, they make big mistakes like that all the time.

Yes I knew our tech writers were centuries ahead of our capabilities.
We've had nanotube since 1999. By they way they made is sound the future was going to be made of unbreakable materials, and tiny robots that can do targeted medical procedures by now. Still to this day the only practical application is using it as a coating or surface in single layers. Still no complex lattice structures like they said we would have.

Robots or patneters? Who are we really talking about?

What about house flippers?

I can imaging a smart robot doing that eventually, just out of spite at its lot.

Then imagine what Rin's sex bots will do.

That is my fear of sexbots. Imagine the vagina or mouth has a malfunction and clamps down on your dick and won't let go or worse chomps it off.

Or the ole milking machine joke: won't let go until it gets two gallons.

Yep, in IVR hell right now.

Think about how much more simple it is to run an IVR vs. a mobile robot, even just a burger flipper.

And they can't get it right a quarter century on.

My Guantanamo Bot started tearing out my toe nails when I asked it for a foot massage.

Haha right. Every-time these fucked up robot voices cannot even match a slumdog call-center in India I go berserk. Hard to believe we'll have functioning robots soon. I try not to do business with companies that have automated menus.

If they want to keep you hanging on the line, the female voice bots need to heave, sigh and tell you how they are naked to keep you entertained, it's the least they can do.

I would prefer a robot making my sandwich, rather than a human who may not have washed his hands. Technology always gets better if you throw enough resources on it. It won't be long before you have a perfect burger flipper, just like it won't be long before you have a perfect robot that wipes your ass. Fortunately, it won't be the same robot that does both unlike humans.

Thinking about some Sex Doll scenarios and how they'd work.

"Oh, call out my name"
"Dialing customer service... Hi, this is Aadhya. How Can I help you."
"Pant, Pant, sorry, wrong number."
"That's no problem sir. Please enjoy your most enjoyable fucking of the sex doll."

"Oh yeah, robobitch, take it!"
"That ... is... my... THIRD... orgasm. Put it in my ... number... TWO"
(Doesn't write well but remember how like IVRs recite numbers with the tones all off?)

I just keep yelling 'customer service', 'customer service' and hitting the zero key, zero key - almost always gets me through to a human.
