The new tax system is supposed to lower tax for everyone, more so for the rich. The tax system has always favored the rich. But it is getting out of control. How can you lower the tax and support our pubic infrastructure like public school? Our public schools are grossly underfunded already except for those in the affluent neighbors, like Saratoga High School in Silicon Valley. They just built a new music building with at least 10 individual rehearsal rooms, all air conditioned. They already had a music building with rehearsal rooms. But they are funded up to wazoo, so they decided to built a new one. Not to mention they have McAfee Performing Art and Lecture Center in which they can rent to earn more money. This is getting ridiculous. Compare to that, James Lick High School does not even have the AP classes in Biology, Physic, US History, Music Theory etc. This high school is basically designed for the kids to fail. Look at Saratoga High School, they have engineering classes to promote the kids to succeed in college and beyond. I thought the education and opportunity were supposed to be, yes, supposed to look, equal. It will always be unfair and unequal. But at the public school level? Give me a break.

I don't say go improve every high school to the standard of Saratoga or Los Gatos High School. But this is just getting too ridiculous. And I wonder why people are so ignorant. Are we going to allow the rich to take advantage of our kids, while more kids overseas are getting better education? Look at your work place, how many foreigners at your work? I see no one but foreigners working at Apple. Even at Standford, I see more foreign students. Even though Standford is a private institution, our tax is used to fund many of their research and infrastructures. If they continue to accept these many foreigners, I think we should start cutting all of the public funds to pay for their research and infrastructures.

Isn't it time for us to start investing on our kids? What is your take?

My take is that nothing will really change or improve as long as teacher's unions are controlling the whole show:

So as Tracey Bailey and many other dedicated teachers have learned, schools can't improve until reformers confront the deadly consequences of the power that teachers' unions wield over a monopolistic industry, not only through contracts but also through the unions' influence on the elected officials who regulate the education industry. Until then, any reform—whether more money for the schools or smaller classes or high national standards or charter schools—will get short-circuited from the very outset.

WTF. Schools are locally funded through property taxes, how does this relate to the federal tax plan?.

You can make a good school bad very quickly by bussing in a lot of the wrong peoples kids.
A basic school, likewise, can be considered very good. Example: one of the many charter schools that offer an alternative educational experience for the kids in areas infested with the wrong sort of culture.

Face it: bad parents make for bad kids make for bad schools.

It’s not about race, it’s about culture. I went to a very bad elementary school followed by a fairly bad junior high. Mostly white kids at both schools. White trash, that is.
Sorry if i triggered you, Mr. cowardly anonymous.
