A Colorado man who spent 11 years believing he had fathered a daughter with his ex-wife is now fighting to stop paying child support after discovering the girl isn't actually his.

Chris Atkins, 48, is legally obliged to pay $730 each month to his ex wife, Lori Lonnquist, despite a DNA test recently proving he is not the child's father.

Atkins says he had only been dating Lonnquist a 'short time' when she told him she was pregnant.

The two married in 2000 before the child was born, but split up two and a half years later, with Atkins paying child support ever since.

However during a fight, Lonnquist blurted out that the girl did not belong to Atkins, setting in motion a nasty parental rights battle, Fox 31 reported.

He should just sue for sole custody until she gives up the fight for child support. Nasty woman! I feel badly for the child involved.

This is just ridiculous. This should e a felony, the woman lied in court to use the state to get money .

Typical cunt. This is why mandatory paternity test should be given when a child is born, but I am sure a lot of women would batshit over that idea.

I agree with this. It will have many beneficial effects:

* women will be less likely to cheat
* men who find out that the child is not theirs will not get into the situation of the guy in the article
* men will be more devoted fathers to the children they are certain are theirs
* making the test mandatory removes the "you don't trust me" excuse from women

The woman does not have to be involved. It's purely a matching test between child and father.

The only reason to oppose it is to give women a better chance of tricking men into spending many years supporting another man's child.

That’s how you’d have to sell it to the broads.
The paternity test could then be completely up to the man. All he’d have to do is submit a sample of his own DNA and a comparison could be run on the child’s.

I’m sure some anti-vaxxer harridan out there with four autistic rage spawn will have an issue with this.

Anyone notice that the kids with autism mostly have parents who you’d swear are on the same spectrum?

She could have gone after the real father, if she knew which of the 20 guys she mated with was the father.

That's what beta-males are for. You can't expect the alpha to pay for the offsprings he left around.

Many fathers too, when they find out the baby isn't his.
