Heard this story. Bread and Water for trivial offenses, and it took the Pentagon forever to remove the guy.
The tempo is too high for the force. It takes years to build and train ships and crews. Gonna be a while before this is fixed.
Too many carriers, to few escorts. Wayyyyy too few for a real war that will involve Sub Hunting and Convoy Protection, esp. now that we import most of what we use.
Big problem with those stupid Lockheed rip off Littoral Ships, apart from underperforming, is the Crew Fatigue. They simply don't carry enough men to run the ship without flirting with exhaustion.
I imagine the USN is buying into the automation BS with their legacy boats, too. Boats that are now decades old and require more attention and repair, thus more manhours.
Keep in mind we're at a peacetime routine, imagine the crew exhaustion will be when there's a war.
is the Crew Fatigue. They simply don't carry enough men to run the ship without flirting with exhaustion.
The other problem is the quality of the new recruits. When 75%+ of potential recruits get rejected because of past felonies, weight issues, drug use, tattoos, being out of shape (FAT) and other personal issues, what's left to enlist?
The armed forces are really scraping the bottom of the barrel to get new volunteers.
Ever tried to train "slugs" or "Special Snowflakes"?
