The Philippines has serious issues, which, imho start with culture that is severely broken for an island nation. The emphasis on being Catholic and having as many children as possible has created an unbelievable level of overcrowding and unsustainable conditions on the island chain. People will do whatever is necessary to survive in such circumstances, and drugs and gangs are just part of that. Filipinos also top the world’s nations in exported workers, sending laborers to more than fifty countries, who ultimately send home much of their wages. They’ve developed a culture around this practice, with many Filipinos considering it their duty to support a lot of family members back home with their wages abroad.
I have a Filipino sister in law, and she was supporting around ten people with her wages. I guess the living was so good that several dropped out of college and quit jobs because they didn’t need to with her sending the equivalent of a princely sum each month.
That’s mostly ended, at least the regular monthly payments, but they’re sneaky about these “emergencies” that come up on a regular basis. The funniest one was a relative who had a baby at a hospital in the Philippines and claimed that the hospital wouldn’t let her take her baby home until it got paid, I think she claimed it was $1500. Lots of “emergencies” designed to induce guilt in my SIL who will then cry to my brother until money is sent. Sneaky assholes.

He could have had an American wife with a tramp stamp, sings Fiddy Cent songs in the shower, and is in competition with the neighbors wife to see who can fuck the most neighborhood teens. How is she at wife and mother shit? That's all that counts. If she sucked at that, I'm sure he would tell her to hit the road.
