Senator Richard Blumenthal made news first in April during the confirmation hearings for Justice Neil Gorsuch, then again in August, when he warned allies of the Trump administration that they could not expect pardons like the one handed to America’s most-hated sheriff, Joe Arpaio. Now Senator Blumenthal has doubled down on his vow to hold Trump and his accomplices accountable for the very real crimes against democracy that they’ve committed. On Thursday, he sent letters to Vice President Pence and White House lawyer Don McGahn, demanding answers regarding who knew what, and when, on the subject of Flynn’s previously undisclosed business conflicts while working on the Trump campaign. On Tuesday, the Washington Post reported that Flynn’s contacts regarding the proposed rendition of a Turkish national and his business dealings with companies he was still advising at the time he was promoting them from within the Trump campaign were known to Pence while they were still happening. If that’s true, then Mike Pence could likely be brought up himself on perjury charges, as he has repeatedly insisted throughout the entire Russian investigation that he knew nothing, at any time, about anything. Now that Flynn has flipped on Trump, and will testify that he was directed to make contact with Russian officials during the campaign, anyone he answered to during the transition can and will be held accountable — and that includes the Vice President.
Trump and his suckers will keep howling about Clinton and the deep state like a stuck pig, he will leave far richer than he came, lawsuits all dismissed, family nicely set up, and once again American banks will do business with Trump. Summit meetings will be held in resorts on revitalizing the march to cheaper labor.
Blumenthal will be shamed out of office for groping interns before any of that nonsense in that article ever happens.
