Hello Alex,
if you attempt to issue a fraudulent DMCA takedown notice for merely linking to another site, I will file a 512(f) claim for monetary damages.

Also note that I am publishing an entire transcript of all our communication in public on my site, here:

Tell him you will get rid of the links if they give you a $500000 loan with -5% interest rate

That’s bizarre that some website would think they have a right to NOT be linked to!

This happens to me a lot.

While it is always perfectly legal to link to any other site on the web, companies such as Tribal Lending Enterprises as a matter of routine simply break the law by sending ISPs fraudulent DMCA takedown notices to try to improve their SEO rank. The ISP, not wanting to waste any time on the issue, usually tells the site owner to remove the links or be shut down.

One problem with that strategy -- it's illegal and site owners can collect damages for DMCA fraud. So I look at this as a revenue opportunity for patrick.net. I'll keep you posted if anything else happens with this.

Ah, looks like Alex gave up:

Patrick,

There is no intention to file a takedown notice. We simply believe your backlinks are negatively impacting our ranking. This is the first step in following Google Search Console protocol.

No further communication will be made from me.

Best Regards,

Alex Dickinson

Keep the links up in a forum topic and post some pictures of brutal beastiality action between a fat ugly homosexual man and a horse all around the web link.

Bad news Patrick. You could have made a fortune suing stupid people.
