1) Leftists: Be careful with Michael Wolff and do some research. The least of your worries is that the man finds the media "smug". hollywoodreporter.com/news/michael-w…
2) In reality, Wolff hates legacy media, including "pious sermon" giving", "border[ing] on being quite a ridiculous figure" @brianstelter of @cnn's @ReliableSources. Wolff's post election criticisms of legacy media were relentless.
Michael Wolff to CNN's Brian Stelter: Media Is Not The Story; Becoming "Quite A Ridiculous Figure"
'Hollywood Reporter' columnist Michael Wolff says the media making itself the story by unfairly criticizing and rushing to fact check everything President Donald Trump says. To CNN's Brian Stelte…
https://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2017/02/05/michael_wolff_to_brian_stelter_you_border_on_being_quite_a_ridiculous_figure.html 3) He's simply not an ally of yours, leftists. The @nytimes calls him:

"a prime piranha in the Manhattan media pond..."

Michael Wolff, From Local Media Scourge to National Newsmaker
A journalist who loved to needle the Manhattan elite enrages the president with his insider account of the year he spent reporting from the West Wing.
https://www.nytimes.com/2018/01/04/business/media/michael-wolff-trump.html 4) Dig even farther back and one finds Wolff wrote a 2004 book, "Autumn of the Moguls". Ready for an understatement? The book is highly critical of legacy media.
5) Amazon describes the book thusly:

"A humorous and critical portrait of the media industry...makes predictions about its IMMINENT ECONOMIC COLLAPSE, presenting first-person accounts about the industry's more ludicrous business dealings."
6) Publisher's Weekly's scathing review of the same book went as follows:

"Wolff's contention that the [legacy media] industry is a chain of con games in which the last domino is about to fall and Wolff is the only one brave enough to say so."
7) Publisher's Weekly continued:

"Eventually, every topic returns to the subject of the author as industry outsider, with other people existing so that he might have opinions of them."
8) Thus, it should be quit obvious - Wolff not only finds the legacy media malodorous, he HATES it, think it nothing short of insidious and would want nothing more than to see it DESTROYED...
9) His history makes clear that the only thing he'd enjoy more than watching the legacy media get destroyed, is taking an ACTIVE role in its downfall, or "imminent economic collapse" as described in "Autumn of the Moguls".
10) Somebody - either @realDonaldTrump or another person very close to his inner circle - has teed the legacy media-hating up for its final death throw. Wolff, along w/Bannon's "feud" with @POTUS, were used to grease the wheels into hell for these vile scum.
11) This is all the more obvious when triangulated w/ i) @DevinNunes securing Fusion GPS' bank records which will ineluctably highlight "journos" & legacy media paid to commit acts of treason against democratically-elected @POTUS and ii) Wed's #FakeNewsAwards.
12) Wolff's decade-old prediction about the industry's "imminent economic collapse" is finally nigh. Perhaps a large short position in @nytimes is apropos?
13) Carlos Slim thinks so; he began running for the hills in Dec when he quietly announced plans to reduce his position in the @nytimes by half. He'd already lost 50% on it, no need to stick around for the final 50%.

So you’re thinking this is all a setup, bait and switch for the legacy media to walk itself right into the bear trap?

Yeah. One of the tells in that in the Book and in Interviews, Wolff has been going out of his way to state he's not sure that everything he was told was actually true.

And he says he has tapes but we haven't heard them. Also, I notice that Saggy Haterman and others have been more cautious than usual and actually checked with some folks Wolff interviewed who denied saying what they're quoted as saying. Some of the brighter bulbs are getting a notion of "something ain't right" through their Bourgeois Beltway Bubble.

Possibly a setup job for "Fake News Awards". Or a cynical ploy. Or, it is what it is.

Politics is like Game of Thrones right now.

Right. Bannon basically confirmed that he said what Wolff wrote. He only is trying to claim that he meant to blame Manafort instead of Jr., who was too naive to be a traitor.

Twoscoops, you are very keyed in on who is an ally with who. Sometimes, you just take information for what it is. You don't disregard everything from sources that you hate, and you don't believe everything you hear from someone you like. I recall you even quoting WaPo here and there. I never assumed that by quoting something from the WaPO meant that you joined sides with them or that you were advocating that they were a trusted source.

Whenever I've listened to podcasts from what you call the 'legacy media,' they always discuss how they are trying to confirm various lines in Wolff's book. They are not claiming it is all true, but are reporting on what is going on. It would be neglectful of them to ignore it when the President himself is spending his time reacting to the book. Bannon's reaction and Trump's reaction to Bannon pretty much confirm that there is a lot of truth to the book.

Bannon had to make an announcement because he and Trump thought the base would be smart enough to follow what is going on.
Breitbart articles are taking a pounding by Trolls pretending to Breitbart readers and Trump supporters.

I know it all shit because if it were true. Trump would have Tweeted nonstop for 72 hours and said a lot more than what he said, and Bannon would have been Troll slamming Trump like he does with all GOP'ers he doesn't like or is in a Spat with.

it's a legit theory. Why else would he put out such obvious fake news? Why would Bannon and Trump go unhinged like they did?

Something doesn't make sense.

Bannon didn't go unhinged that's what made the whole story stink.
I've noticed since the beginning Drudge and Breitbart has had no problem calling out GOP'ers they don't agree with or in a spat with.
You should see what Breitbart printed about McCain. There's only been one side tongue lashing, and even that didn't seem authentic from Trump. He used the opportunity to blow his Dog Whistle and troll the media over how smart he is. Bannon loves it when people call him Sloppy, that doesn't bother him any more than it does me.

Again--Occam's razor. Trump really is a dotard and the folks that work with him couldn't stand it so they told this author.

All Liberals do is lie, even Oprah knew Harvey was sex starved predator, and she did nothing.

Totally.

Bannon's bizarre silence for a day or so, then he makes one remark supporting Trump in a few words in response to a caller, I think a day or so after that then he basically reiterates support for Don and Don Jr. Very little on Breitbart.

Bannon's a fighting SOB, this is really odd behavior from him. No TV, No Defending His Name. You know the Media was/is begging him for interviews, it's not like he couldn't find a platform.

Something is Fishy in Denmark.

Wednesday, I'm guessing.

True, it could be what it is. But I got a funny feeling I can't shake that everything is some kind of tactic: Bannon, The Book, and the Trump Response.

It just doesn't add up, like a Mafioso shooting the President's Assassin.
11   FNWGMOBDVZXDNW   2018 Jan 8, 12:14pm

Do you really think that Wolff is in on a set-up and is on Trump's side?

I think that Bannon really thought that the Trump ship was going down (it might yet), and was separating himself from Trump. Using Wolff was good for him, because it was a delayed fuse. He could show that he was not participating in 'treasonous' things way back when without actually distancing himself back then. If Moore had won, and congressional Republicans had turned on Trump, then Bannon would be doing OK. But Moore lost, and Trump and the GOPe have been playing nice with each other. So, Bannon is SOL for now. At this point, he has to play his cards right to keep his job at Breitbart.

Trump's response seems overly defensive. Is it all part of some long con? I don't really see why is weird behavior (lawsuit threats, genius comments, etc.) furthers the narrative that you seem to be pushing - that Trump is a cool cucumber in control and he and Bannon are on a script reeling the news in.

The latter has pretty much been the case the whole way on.

Remember the whole "How DARE Trump not accept the election results." in October 2016?
Trump Tower was "Wiretapped"?
I know there are many more. Both the Media looked so foolish just weeks later. Long Cons.

The Fake News Awards comes out on Wednesday.

And the Mueller investigation is dead. There's too many shady FBI Deep Staters busted on that. They thought Hillary would win, and forgot about Horowitz and the Office of Inspector General, who can access any texts, emails, etc. he wants anytime without any permission or warrant from Federal Devices. Those texts aren't going to show an honest, unbiased G-Man "Just doin' his job." but a foul-mouthed, underhanded Cheater. It sure looks like Lisa Page was leaking to the Press.

I've worked with ex-FBI guys before, you'd be surprised how swarmy and slick they think they are.

I think you are viewing through a very rose colored lens.

Trump has looked foolish over and over again-the inauguration crowd size? OBAMA had him wiretapped?

If this was his "long con", he's not doing it right. Having someone write a book claiming you are an idiot? Not sure who would think that is a good con.

Long interview, but look at this for a second as if Wolff was Austin Powers or Dr. Evil playing with a TV Reporter.

This is performance art. How much juicy stuff will the Media accept because it confirms their biases? To their credit, more and more in the Media are smelling something fishy, but it's too late. They've already celebrated the Book for multiple news cycles.
