All Nonsense in that article.

As a Reminder, ISIS emerged and grew rapidly under Obama, it was expanding until RUSSIA, not Obama, began bombing them while Obama was ordering US forces to bomb Syrian Army positions to help the "Moderate Rebels" that were mostly AQ Affiliates or had zero stomach for fighting and immediately surrendered their weapons to ISIS. He supported Egyptian "Democracy" that ended up in the Muslim Brotherhood running the show, complete with fresh pograms against the Copts. Saudi Arabia is reforming, something we were told be apologists was coming soon, but now that it's here, many of the same Handwavers are like "It's not real."

The Palestinians are finally getting some sticks to come to the Peace Table, instead of endless coddling. Obama asked Bibi to halt settlements for 6 months, Bibi ended up giving more like 10 months at Obama's request. The Palestinians only increased their demands.

The Paleban are going to lose their last Iranian supports as the Gulf States crack down on Jihad at home. They're going to have to come to the peace table.

"All Nonsense in that article"

Is IS ideology dead ? If so, why is it expanding extremely rapidly in Southeast Asia ?

Based on the OP's qualifications I will go with his take on the situation over the average layman.

A Turkish war of America’s making. The US is offering the country, and the region, only incoherence and more empty promises.

As Turkey intensifies its military campaign against Syrian Kurdish fighters, it is tempting to blame the violence on President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s strident jingoism and xenophobia.

So Turkey targets women and children, killing hundreds of civilians, but......
Damn Americans.

2. Saudi Arabia’s ‘reforms’ will fizzle.

Saudi Arabia will continue to make reforms under the direction of Crown Prince Muhammed bin Salman, but those reforms will be purely cosmetic.

Although the crown prince has been portrayed as a reformer, it is important to remember that Bashar al-Assad, the president of Syria, once played that role as well.

You can never count on Islam for any kind of reforms. Saudi Arabia will be an economic failure. People who can't even make pencils, and are completely dependent on natural resources will not be able to change much in one or two generations.

3. The caliphate will be gone, but not the Islamic State.

If 2014 was the year in which IS seemed unstoppable, 2015 was the year the IS caliphate began to slide into oblivion.

The caliphate also lost all the major towns it had taken. The caliphate is finished. But what about IS, the movement?

The IS movement will never end. That is Islam. They will always need to be controlled.

4. Trump’s ‘ultimate deal?’ Gone for now.

When the U.S. recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, it put another nail – quite possibly the final nail – into the coffin of the Oslo agreements, which set the parameters for negotiating a two-state solution.

If the Oslo agreements haven't worked by now, they will never work. Time to kick Palestinian butts real hard.

5. Yemen will sink further into the abyss.

Down the road, the most important underreported crisis in the Middle East is the war in Yemen, which Saudi Arabia, with American support, is waging against an indigenous uprising. There is no end in sight.

They were always in the abyss. No talents, no oil combined with Islam is the cause. Ofcourse it's America's fault. It always is.

"Number Of Iraqis Slaughtered In US War And Occupation Of Iraq "1,455,590"
"Number of U.S. Military Personnel Sacrificed (Officially acknowledged) In U.S. War And Occupation Of Iraq 4,801"

We don't need "rapist & murderers" immigrants in America.
We have lying Republicans.

Once again THE GREAT HEYYOU (Trump & HEYYOU love to see their names in print) leaves them with, NOTHING.

So because we foolishly attacked Iraq 15 years ago, Turkey targeting and killing Kurdish civilians today is our fault.

Goldman (Spengler) is the author of the second "related" article. He's about as pro Trump/America as anyone I follow.

What is being called out is the lack of or the misdirected and inept policy(s) in the region and with Turkey on the part of the administration.

One man's opinion. Irrelevant.

an Israeli government secure in the embrace of the United States lacks incentive to concede anything.

All the Palestinians want is for Israel to disappear. If Israel would concede this one thing would there be mideast peace?

Could some of you "highly educated enlightened ones" let us uneducated average americans know why we are supposed to care if middle easterners are killing themselves.

You mean there is coherent well thought out policy going forward concerning Turkey, Syria etc. ?

If they target and kill civilians they are the criminals. Not us.
It sounds like you are saying..............Oh look at the poor Turks and Syrians. Look what we made them do? We made them kill innocent people. We are so evil.

Lots of humor here. The prince arrested everyone that controlled any organization that could oppose him. Tortured their underlings (some to death) to make his point. Then shook them down for serious lucre which he put in his pocket. Now they are released. ROFLOL.

I missed the news about how many radical Imans across the world fully funded by SA have been arrested and their mosque shut down. Or how many madras terrorism training academies fully funded by SA have been shut down. Or how funds flowing out of SA like water to terrorist groups has been cut off. Not a cent moves in or out of SA that the government isn't fully monitoring.

This is reform? So what does not reform look like?

What the Saudis did is their internal family politics. All their wealth comes from oil, and now that they see less of it and most likely none of it in the future, the scramble is on to grab as much wealth as possible from anyone and anywhere. Kind of like what happens in large wealthy families when grandpa dies without a will. We don't give a rat's ass who gets what as long as the top banana in the kingdom bends over for us.
I would like to see real reforms, but the young Prince needs to consolidate his power first. Might see some real reforms after the old king dies.

Their killing frenzy is spreading across the globe.
In the old days their killing frenzy was restricted by how far they could walk, now it's restricted by how far they can fly.
