#bitcoin

Not sure if the source cherry picked the sample of the bitcoin graph, but this is rather funny if you ask me. Here's the link to the article: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/2018/01/11/bitcoin-price-plummets-south-koreas-plan-ban-cryptocurrency/

That's a pretty alarming correlation if you ask me after I stopped laughing. Who knows which way this goes since there a few people that hold a lot of these. If they get spooked this thing crumbles.

No economy can function without fantasy money backed by bug-eyed mania that can lose all of its value at any time for any reason and no reason.

Isn't it the reality that 4-5 people control like 40% of BitCoin supply?

If that wasn't enough to scare people away from this, what about all the competition that is gaining footholds right now?

And, quick, tell me the due diligence required to distinguish a fraudulent ICO from a 'real' ICO!

Great buying opportunity right now. Better buy now before it hits 30k!

The problem with investments like this is liquidity. How do you divest yourself when the market plunges? You have to hope there is someone out there betting on a rebound, otherwise you're screwed.

i cant wait for options to be listed on bitcoin. Anyone wanna guess the IV of the wing options?

The relevant question regarding bitcoin: "Is this better than central bank controlled fiat money"? The grudging answer is "yes, probably".

Unless someone can tell me why a fiat $, in a system saturated by $50 trillion of unfunded liabilities is better than a crypto currency... I'm gonna go ahead and lowly accumulate bitcoin. (Probably holding my nose as I do it)

dollars aren't better, but why would you buy bitcoin during an investment frenzy? Better to wait until it gone back to a more realistic value.

I don't believe dollars will be around forever. As with any dynasty it will come to an end. But I think this photo can explain why they'll (dollars) be around a while longer still.

Agreed, all fiat currencies have a lifespan. The trick is knowing when that's about to end, and accumulating wealth in assets that have value outside of paper backed by nothing.

Yep, Pound Sterling is still pretty strong, though the British Empire has been over for more than half a century.

Meanwhile, just one country announces it will do away with BitCoin exchanges and the whole currency drops like a stone.

"B-b-but, it's safe from Government Interference! Crypto-Currency! Jubal Harshaw approves!"
