Venezuelan Hyperinflation Explodes, Soaring Over 440,000 Percent

The price of a cup of coffee in Bloomberg’s Cafe Con Leche Index has risen six of the past 12 weeks. During that period, the cost climbed from 5,500 bolivars to 45,000 bolivars. That’s an increase of 718 percent. Translated into an annualized pace, it comes to 448,025 percent.

That would have been the USA if Bernie won.

How many Republicans on some form of govt. hand outs or business subsidies?
Inquiring minds want to know.

A lot less than democrats.
I hope that satisfies your inquiring mind.

A challenge to all.
Can anyone name a country that rejected capitalism, embraced socialism, and thrived?

I can name one, I call it Liberalandia. It's a fantasy world that liberals imagine they'll live in if they just vote in for more socialism.

Ok. Fortwayne managed to come up with one, even though it does not exist in the real world. Thank You, Fortwayne.
Would any socialist like to try? Even if you have to lie. Come on, show some balls.

No one? no one at all?
In that case my question to socialists is, why the Fuck are you a socialist?

"the government put price ceilings on all staple goods, and as you learn in the first week of any introductory economics course, price controls breed shortages."

We had our own flirtation with that in the early 70's in an abortive attempt to stem the raging inflation for which that decade will always be remembered. In around 1971 or 1972, Nixon instituted wage and price controls when inflation was something like 5%, staggering compared to the virtual 0% or 1% of the mid 1960's before Great Society spending took off. The way it worked, virtually every wage was frozen, but not prices. There were all kinds of exceptions that created massive distortions in the market. I remember one in particular when the price of chickens was frozen but not chicken feed, so baby chicks were killed by the thousands because they weren't economically profitable. The controls were working so poorly that sometime in 1972 or early 1973 they went to Phase II to double down, with the expected results. Controls were lifted at the end of 1973 and it was 1974 that saw double digit inflation every month when you combined the run-up in gasoline prices caused by OPEC's embargo. Starting in 1975, we would get periodic blanket raises because of the rising prices, but in just a few months the increase would be eaten up by more inflation--also incomes weren't indexed for inflation so you kept being kicked into higher brackets with no increase in spending power, a bonanza for the government.

Source?

I see a crapload of Republicans on welfare in rural America. Just go to the local Walmart in any small town in middle America and watch all the WIC cards being used.

It's a ridiculous question. Who on here is demanding a socialist society in the way you mean? That, however doesn't mean there aren't benefits to implementing parts of other systems. Look at healthcare in the US. Public transport. Care for the mentally ill. The homeless. The elderly. And on and on it goes. Now take those examples and compare the US to Japan, Germany, France... Get the point?

A lot of people still think a pure communist/socialist system is the way to go. Just ask Bernie Sanders and his supporters. On Patnet, probably Dan, Jazz, Hey You.

I would generally agree, but not for most of the homeless, who like being homeless. You failed to mention education. I support free tuition for all, all the way to PhD, because I consider education as a necessary investment.

I don't think any of the names you list there are in favor of a pure communist/socialist system. Sanders definitely is not. I was a Sanders supporter and he is certainly NOT in favor of government owning industry and determining production levels. He and his supporters are in favor of a well regulated free market. Unless you think US circa 1950 was socialist, then none of the names you listed are in favor of pure socialism.

New questions.
How many Democrats & how many Republicans on social programs?
Do you have the numbers of the Democrats, only?
How many miles of Interstate have your taxes built?
Just inquiring?

Ha ha ha. Nothing satisfies you.
I don't have answers for the rest of your hyper inquiring mind. Please ask google, I'm just a human.

Japan - Been in an economic depression since the 90's
Germany - Home to more rapfugees than every other country combined
France - More terrorist attacks than you can shake a stick at

Socialist paradise's all!

Yes, a model of excellence now that we have Obamacare!

Public transport.

You mean like the railroads, where robber barons used their government connections to lay as much track as possible for precious tax dollars? Or the trolley system we replaced with the DMV?

anon_1fe2e says
Care for the mentally ill

Like in To Kill a Mockingbird? Or maybe CPS...

anon_1fe2e says
The homeless

Visit us in California sometime, we give all our tax dollars to the homeless out here, and boast places like San Francisco, where pooping is a public event.

Social Security, a retirement guaranteed for all! And medicare, because what's an old person without 50 pills a day!
