Since at least January of last year, our smart phones have been a very sensitive listening device. Samsung's Nogart update maxed out the mic gain so they can hear you whisper in the bathroom while your phone is in the kitchen. Try to use the Video camera to catch those loud concert or a loud event like a loud festivities at a social gathering. You'll be able to make out the audio of course. But it will be 100% unusable as any archival copy of the event. Evidence in a FISA court Yes! Catching Trey Anisasio's awesome lead solo, or the precious moment everyone sang happy birthday to 96 year old Nana totally useless.
Worked before I have gigs and gigs of practice audio with my band, and my wife has gigs of bands in the park, bar, or loud parties. We were unable to capture one single loud occasion in all of 2017.
I'm done with the smart phone. I bought a Zoom 6H, we've got HD Video cameras, we've got Nikon DLSR fuck Samsung and Apple I hope they choke and die and coroners all die laughing at the turd half out of their ass I'm getting a Nokia chicklet phone.
My favorite thing about the Zoom 6 H is it doesn't have Bluetooth, WiFi or connected to the Internet in any way. Same goes for our camcorder and DLSR. I'll never EVER own an audio device that connects to the Internet again. I shoved Gorilla glue in my camera and the mic hole on my laptop both are totally useless now.
