Furious Progressives Slam Democrats and Schumer For Caving On Shutdown

“It’s official: Chuck Schumer is the worst negotiator in Washington – even worse than Trump,” said Murshed Zaheed, political director at CREDO, a progressive advocacy group, quoted by The Hill.

“Today's cave by Senate Democrats — led by weak-kneed, right-of-center Democrats — is why people don’t believe the Democratic Party stands for anything,” said Stephanie Taylor, co-founder of the Progressive Change Campaign Committee. “These weak Democrats hurt the party brand for everyone and make it harder to elect Democrats everywhere in 2018.”

Are you sure? A government shutdown equals free leave for the "furloughed" workers, as they will get back pay for those days and it will not count against vacation time.

An Independent would tell the Republicans that he will vote against another C.R.
"You Republicans will have to balance the budget or no C.R."
"Your Republican constituents are not going to pay another dime of their hard earned tax dollars for interest on money that you borrow."
"You don't get anything that you can't pay for!"

Schumer caved because the political cost of the shutdown were overwhelming. This is how the public saw the shutdown despite CNN's best efforts.

Democrats: Protecting 700,000 illegal aliens.
GOP: Trying to get US Service men and women paid.

I swear, the Democrats have become dumber as a whole in the past 10 years. It's like without Obama's smooth snake oil salesman voice, they've completely lost any semblance of a plan. Either that, or Trump has completely trolled them into being idiots.

Trump protecting 320 million LEGAL American citizens.

Yes, I can see why the Dems would be upset with that.

That's what happens when they listen to Rachel Maddow, Don Lemon, Morning Joe, Jake Tapper, etc.

The Kool-Aid flows freely.

"Tough Guy", Schumer, withdraws offer on Trump's wall.

After getting his head handed to him in a paper bag by Trump and by his base, the Tough Guy turns into a two faced liar.

Chuck Schumer is taking his big spending boost for Donald Trump’s border wall off the table.

The Senate minority leader, through an aide, informed the White House on Monday that he was retracting the offer he made last week to give Trump well north of the $1.6 billion in wall funding Trump had asked for this year, according to two Democrats. And now they say Trump will simply not get a better deal than that on his signature campaign promise.

Schumer “took it off,” said Illinois Sen. Dick Durbin, the No. 2 Senate Democrat. “He called the White House yesterday and said it’s over.”

Yah that’s not what “furlough” defines to. Are YOU sure about that? Having survived the 2009 downturn, I know very well that you don’t get paid while on furlough

This is stupid. Schumer literally has ZERO leverage. He's already shown that he can't get his party to force a shutdown as it took 2 days to literally cave in, and what did Schumer and Democrats get? ABSOLUTELY FUCK ALL.

Schumer shutdown the government to get nothing in return. Does anyone think Schumer or Pelosi are stupid enough to try that again?

I hope they do, the 2018 midterms will be so one sided, it'll take a decade for the Democrats to recover.

Putting America first, is what works. Schumer put illegal aliens first. Idiot.

The polling came in, showed it was an absolute disaster.

Shut it Down! This will save money as Trump intended. Draining the Swamp!
Schumer withdraws Border Wall funding.
What's a wall got to do with keeping the Govt. open?
Karma!
Looks like Trump will have to back up his big mouth & get pesos from Mexico.

No C.R. without a Republican balanced budget. That will be a kick in their itey bitey balls

So the Dems didn't shutdown the government then stopped their shutdown attempt mere hours later? It was all a Russian Lie?

ABSOLUTELY FUCK ALL.

It seems to me that Democrats got CHIP funding, and Republicans got another few weeks of an operating government to figure out how to pay for their tax cuts. Next up, they will try again for DACA and the wall. It's funny that Trump sort of wants DACA and definitely wants the wall, but somehow cannot accept a compromise that gives him both. It will be interesting to see how long the Republicans continue to look for Trump's blessing before negotiating on bills.
