I'll never forgive Leftist, they actually ruined Star Wars

What the fuck Disney?

Vice Admiral Gender Studies totally ruined this movie. I honestly had to walk out. it's like they had to invent a strong feminist to put all the high-t males in their place.

Ridiculous. This is stepping over the line.

Hollywood has no shame. Force feeding this fantasy of the strong feminist hero. This movie is so bad I don't consider it canon.

How do you make a space ship look like a warp ten twat instead of a phallus?

One of the most ridiculous force-fed feminist shit was "Moana" cartoon from Disney. All male characters there are cowards, weaklings, idiots or a combination of the above. All female characters, on the other hand, are strong, smart and brave. With no fucking exceptions on both sides. And the release of that shit was perfectly timed for IHLary coronation....

Watched it in the theater when it opened. Waiting for it to come out on appletv to re-watch it. It was over a month ago at this point, but I don't recall that character being overly SJW. Poe basically tells her to fuck off and he does his own things if I recall correctly. Carrie Fischer (sp?) floats back in and puts everyone back in order after rehabbing from being in a vacuum without a space suit.

Yes she is kind of made the savior by light speeding that fucking ship into the enemy, but you should probably have a bigger problem with Rae (sp?) in my opinion if your going the SJW route complaint.

I was ultimately entertained enough and am getting rather disappointed in how everything, literally everything is becoming politicized in some way or another. It's either a bad movie or good movie. Don't judge it based on some political feeling. Not sure why it's necessary to be in THIS or THAT camp, especially when talking about a science fiction movie of all things. It is fake, or so I hope people realize.

That's what you recall/remember of Vice Admiral Gender studies? Interesting.

This is how I remember it (and I just saw it this week).

SPOILERS BELOW

_____________________________________________________________________

The 1st Order begins attacking the Rebel Fleet and decimates it. The Rebels attempt a getaway, Leia gets blown out of the ship's bridge and her along with Admiral Freaking Ackbar are killed instantly, or so we think.

But Leia somehow uses force surviving powers and floats back into the ship like Mary Poppins.

OUT OF NOWHERE, Vice Admiral Gender Studies (Holdo) comes into the scene. No explanation for who she is, just some purple haired vaguely lesbian feminist comes out and is supposedly some battle hardened hero who looks like she came out of the Woman's Resist Marches. I remember someone two rows behind me giving a disgusted laugh when she first appeared on screen followed by multiple giggles. it was just... ridiculous.

Po, who is the next highest ranking officer, but still below Vice Admiral Gender Studies basically says, "We're outnumbered 5 to 1, and literally hours away from being blown away when our fuel runs out, what's the plan?"

Now I haven't served in the military, but ONE WOULD THINK that the CO and XO of a freaking FLEET would discuss the situation and keep each other informed about their tactics and thoughts on the situation.

NOPE. Vice Admiral Gender Studies tells Po to fuck off and mind his own business. Just like that. It's a scene literally written to emasculate the main high testosterone good male via feminist brow beating.

Then she gets to do the whole heroic kamakazi run which destroyed Snoke's flagship. My only question is, from a story perspective, wouldn't ADMIRAL FREAKING ACKBAR have been 10x a better choice? I mean for fucks sake we've only known this purple haired freak for 30-40 minutes. Ackbar has been in the canon for what... 30 years?!

I don't even want to get into the whole "Rich people planet full of child slaves and animals who just want to run free in the grass fields" sub-plot. Or the token asian female who works below deck as ... whatever the fuck she was... and suddenly becomes some heroic pilot who has to save the black guy from himself, and now this interracial couple are in love. Seriously, fuck this movie.

I actually have no problem with Rey, her storyline isn't actually very SJW.

I think it's very odd that someone could watch this abortion of a movie and think, "Nope, NO POLITICAL AGENDA here at all." That's seriously confusing and I wonder if we saw the same movie.

"But for Disney, and for anyone watching, this isn’t really a matter of whether The Last Jedi turns over a billion or more in revenue. That was always an easy target. This is a matter of how well the film succeeds in meeting financial expectations, how well it fulfills the needs of the franchise, and whether it strengthens the Star Wars brand for future projects.

By those measures, The Last Jedi already looks like a dud."

Brand was damaged in the long run for short term gain.

Exactly. I'm sure the next movie will do pretty good revenue. But just based off user reviews and youtube reviews, a lot of people find this movie frustrating for a lot of the reasons I stated above. Not to mention the story isn't exactly super captivating even if you minus the SJW slant.

I'm done though. Done with the franchise, movies, and anything JJ Abrams related. Seriously, they couldn't leave Star Wars alone. They had to inject this leftist garbage into it, and it really pisses me off because I loved these movies as a kid.

The last two have been bad. The one with the pilot who dies at the end was just boring. This last one was just insulting to anyone with a functioning brain. I literally had to keep myself from being sick at the absolutely magnificent disregard for anything resembling reality, physics, psychology, or science displayed in this film. It was like the producers decided that their art trumped my suspension of disbelief, and went hog wild with effects in any which direction. I mean honestly, BOMBERS of star destroyers who for some fucking reason have to get subjectively “over” a ship in outer fucking space to “drop” a bunch of bombs that look straight out of WWII? Star Wars has always been fantasy, perhaps even a western type of fantasy, but this film showed a breathtaking lack of world building in building a world that made ANY sort of sense! Thus, it’s unrelateable to our world. Thus, we don’t care what happens to it!
It’s a classic mistake made by fiction hacks who forget to make the story relatable to the audience! Instead they stuck in a bunch of side plots that made no sense and advanced the main plot not at all (irrelevant to it as far as i could see). Then Luke “fights” Ben and it’s over.
Fuck.
My five year old probably could have written that. But we’ll never know because she was so bored with the story that she fell asleep in my lap!

>Also I would add the jokes were awful and Jar Jar Finn is a horrible joke of a character they should have written his character more serious and his forced relationship out of nowhere with ugly asian is just retarded. Luke's character horribly written. Snoke dies after all the build up. Would have been cool if Lando showed up in the casino scene that should not have existed. The whole running out of fuel and side quest to casino planet was a waste to shove more sjw shit in. New jedi facetime power was bullshit especially when Luke projects himself across the galaxy. Sadly - I too got a bit of a political vibe, but I got it WAY more from the first one than the recent one. Heres my take on all the women in the movies:

Rey - Ive grown to tolerate her but was instantly put off by her instantly uber capable HERO complex. She lives in the equivalent of the inland empire, salvaging garbage - no education no training - nothing. Yet within days she is capable of flying the millennium falcon AND incapacitate the sniveling apparently weak as shit young darth vader guy in a LIGHT SABER DUEL??? Ridiculous.

Young Asian Chick - slightly put off, but whatevs had this been the extent of the catering to the empowered womens thing, I would have had no problem with the franchise.

Laura Dern - honestly, I didn't give a shit about her and really didn't get anything political from the fuck off Po exchange. I figured they put her in to get killed so who cares.

Old Leia - slightly annoyed by the I can use the force to escape zero gravity death thing, but other than that, I frankly really liked her. She really was kind of a bad-ass and would have been a great symbol to women if you really felt like you needed one. I mean she was the LEADER of the free world, is this not enough?

Side note - I was overall a meh as to both star wars, but I freaking LOVED Rogue 1. The felicity jones character was your strong independent woman and I got zero political vibe from her story line whatsoever.

There are a couple of good videos that breakdown/analyze the latest Star Wars release. Sargon's is pretty funny and Film Theory does a good job looking at the fan/critic disconnect. I found Jonathan Pageau's to be the best of the lot (trigger warning: Pageau is JBP's sidekick, though some argue he is a force of nature in his own right, on par with Peterson).

I can't consider The Last Jedi canon unless Episode 9 is so damn good it makes everything make sense.

Another thing I just thought about with Last Jedi.

In ROTJ, Luke refuses to kill his father. He even tosses his light saber to the ground because he senses that there is still good in Vader/Anakin. Anakin is responsible for killing most of the Jedi (including younglings), and probably has killed millions during the war with the Rebels.

YET in Last Jedi, he's ready to slice his nephew in half due to some vague vision of him engaging with the dark side?

It's like Rian Johnson never saw Episode 4-6 at all!

I don't disagree with this whatsoever. Our bookmarks are on the same page here. I was just responding to what had become political, your meme, based on a science fiction movie.
Goran_K says
I'm glad you thought this movie was great and entertaining, a lot of people did not.

Never said great. Even a shitty Adam Sandler film can entertain me sometimes, but not all the time. Watching a 747 land can be entertaining. Eating lunch on a sidewalk cafe and people watching can be entertaining. None of these activities are great necessarily.
Goran_K says
The movie is freaking terrible and a huge part of why it's terrible is because it's full of SJW heroes that make zero sense, and a plot that's meandering with SJW messages about "big bad rich people" who keep "child slaves" to take care of majestic animals that just want to be free, the whole thing seems lost at points. Throw in the SJW forced femi nazi crap forcing viewers to think about traditional feminist/male roles and you get a 49% fan rating.

Again, it's your opinion and that's cool. I was entertained enough while watching it. I was with my kids and will reassess when I watch it in my basement.

I get what you're saying, but there are far more actual overreaching instances of SJW behavior. There are real battles to go after and I just don't find a scifi movie to be one of those battles. If you feel the movie is bad because of that, the SJW aspect, then that's cool. I really don't care. Not saying you're wrong. I just think, for example, some feminist studies professor is doing far worse harm to our society then a movie that's watched by 80% men. 100% of women going through that professor are going to be brainwashed. Multiply that by every single college in the country with a class of 20 students and I think you get what my concern is. Based on your nickname for the character that is kind of central in this thread, we are on the same page. We just have different styles.
Goran_K says
If this is irritating you maybe you should find another thread to post in instead of engaging in borderline personal attacks as a mod?

On this one I don't think I've touched the border of any line of personal (in this comment or previous). The Joshuatrio thread (back in SF after 2 year), sure. If we're going by the use of the word "you" as Patrick outlined a couple weeks back, then patnet doesn't exist if we follow that to a T. You have to be able to say you in written/typed text. See.

So you know my previous comment was addressing multiple people and society in general. Men are becoming soft and SJW's are making it more that way. I'll be honest, if you thought in my comment I was projecting (not sure if that's a personal attack on me or not), then you may also be projecting.

You can hate the movie, I certainly won't defend it on my end from an artistic standpoint. My main point is don't (anyone) get caught up in this movie being some SJW propaganda flick. Keep the eye on the prize. Fight the actual societal SJW types so it doesn't warp an entire generation. Make sure these people don't have influence on Hollywood or more importantly your kids in high school or college.

Making a long story short, don't get caught up in Star Wars being an SJW movie. That's what they want. They win. They attract your attention over here, while they're brainwashing a new round of fembots and frankly idiots.

Don't understand your logic here. The movie is universally divisive to fans. What exactly are SJW's "winning"? If half the audience tunes out, does that not inherently mean they've "lost influence"? Rian Johnson got signed for 3 movies with Disney (a contract worth triple digit millions to him), the way to reduce this guy's SJW influence is to simply not tune in. Look at what happened to the NFL this season, or CNN's ratings. I'm certainly not paying for another Star Wars ticket. I'm almost at the point that I have zero interest in Star Wars as long as Disney owns it.

That's all people are saying here, and you seem to be reading way too much into criticisms of the movie. It was just bad (for many people, not yourself, you seemed to like it and that's fine), and it sucks they ruined a license that many of us grew up with. I know I certainly won't be introducing my children to these movies. They've effectively lost this family, and it's money.

You've answered you own subliminal question here in a sense. Why on earth, should a scifi movie be DIVISIVE! That is my logic. You hate the movie, that's cool. I don't love it, I hope that's cool on your end. I don't think we're divided, though I'm feeling that's the vibe from you. And that's honestly fine, I'm not going to pull another users (BP - I'm bad, oh well) method and tell you how or what to feel. As I've said, I don't think you're wrong for not liking the movie based on what you've stated here.

I'll try to clarify what I'm getting at here hopefully. The new Star Wars is a FULL grown redwood, 200 years old. It is what it is. You can hate it. You can think it sucks. The problem is that redwood (fully developed SJW) is dropping the seeds/cones of future redwoods (baby/teenage/college SJW's) and has been for a while. It's fine to hate that old redwood, but guess what, it's been growing it's babies left and right while you've been focused on how bad that big old redwood has been.

We need to focus on the seeds of the problem to fix it. Politicizing the mature tree ain't accomplishing nothing. This is why I don't like reviews of this movie pulling in the SJW stuff. If you don't want to buy another ticket or own the movie, then do that. I never said don't. Boycotts can work. Money matters.

Quick note, coming from the guy with a star wars name and avatar, we need to stop glorifying the originals. Great nostalgic movies for sure. But let's be realistic, they're not good movies in the technical sense, especially on the acting front. They are entertaining.

Idris Elba just made a suggestion that James Bond, 007, should be a woman. A black woman.

Force Awakens may have had some SJW shit but it was at least entertaining and had lots of "setup" and lots of "payoff".

1: I figured this was a sop to get the preteen kids on board with Annakin the magic 7-year old and Jar Jar
2: I was like, oh, this could be Count Dooku looks into the abyss and becomes the abyss, looking for tactics to defeat the Sith he becomes one himself and Annakin is corrupted by him a little bit.

It's called character development. She should have discovered the force and slowly learned its abilities with Luke. That's what made ESB so intriguing was seeing Luke learn from master Yoda.

I think TFW had some good setups. Teased Rey's parents, so we were thinking "wow might get to know more about her in Last Jedi." They could have explored this.

Nope, it ends up her parents are nobodies? Cool Rian Johnson, real cool.

For some reason they just can't seem to get this right. Why is it so hard for them, I don't know.

I can tell they are trying to push female heroes to attract young women to buy more SW branded products, but for some reason they are turning it into totally feministic crap which appeals to very few people. They are just really bad at making movies these days.

Still no movie is as good as original star wars, or the Firefly series.

Purple haired lesbian Hillary supporter was only half of why I hated it.

The other half was huge gaping plot holes and literally no connection to the old trilogy in terms of character development (Luke is literally not Luke), heck, there's BARELY a connection to TFA.

Some people like mindless entertainment where the narrative has numerous unconnected subplots, and it's just laser swords, explosions etc, and that's fine, I prefer solid story writing for the money I'm paying.

I recognize that I sound like our redpill cucks but I can assure you its not well founded. Like Goran (who I do not align with politically) I did well with the ladies when young & poor, and same now. FWIW I am married to a very high achieving woman who is well respected and well liked. She has repeatedly declined to lead/speak for women's groups who wanted her (too political, people too weird), yet she noted the same thing when we got out and discussed the film.

Last I mostly agree with you that there is wayyy too much political bent ascribed to everything by many of our patnetters, but on this one, I reluctantly side with them.

I think this nails it on the head. The real reason why he was given another trilogy to do was because he did whatever Kathleen Kennedy wanted. TLJ was not a good movie by any objective standard. It was the only Star Wars movie that I've ever looked at my watch. The whole casino subplot was just absolutely awful. Talk about the dumbest/slowest chase scene ever. The Star Wars franchise is pandering to women. The whole point of this propaganda thread is to try and convince white working class males that their interest is better served by Republicans than by Democrats. You are trying to get white working class males to vote against their own economic self-interest by invoking feminism as the bogeyman, and Republicans and Trump as their savior. This has been standard operating procedure for Republican propagandists probably as far back as 1960, if not before.

As usual:

1. "leftism" is one of the new designated propaganda words of 2017-2018. Before that I never heard of it, now it is being echoed everywhere in the propaganda echo chamber.

2. equating feminism with "leftism" is yet another propaganda technique. This particular thread is a perfect example. Rather than arguing against feminism, which is what it should do, it argues against "leftism" by equating it with feminism.

Luke in TLJ is such a terrible character devoid of all logic.

In TFA, he leaves this secret map behind, a map guarded by his closest allies (Kylo Ren chops an old guy in half to get the map to Skywalker during the opening moments of TFA) just in case shit hits the fan and they need a trained Jedi to help bring back order to the galaxy.

Then in TLJ, Rey arrived on the Jedi island, and what does Luke do? He tosses the lightsaber over the cliff and then acts like an emo bitch the rest of the movie.

How does that make any sense?!

Spielberg and Lucas were inspired by the old movie serials. These had plenty of fantastic plots as well as holes in the plots. Suspend disbelief and enjoy. As these gentlemen likely did when they sought inspiration, fire up a spliff beforehand and have a good time.

''With both 'Star Wars' and 'Raiders,' I started out by asking myself 'Gee, when I was a kid what did I really like?' '' Mr. Lucas recently explained. He liked the derring-do of the serials, and the unbeatable courage of their characters, not to mention the 30's settings. ''Practically every movie star of the 30's has one movie like this, be it Alan Ladd or Clark Gable or whoever - playing a soldier of fortune in a leather jacket and that kind of hat,'' Mr. Lucas said, referring to Mr. Ford's snap-brim. ''That's a favorite period of mine, but it was more the character we were after than the period, although they're obviously both rooted in the same ground. I took that character and put him in outer space and it worked just fine - not the same character exactly, but the same concept in terms of story and entertainment value.''
