People who aren’t from here dont understand that homelessness is a result of two thing...

a.) substance abuse
Or
b.) mental illness

It’s not a result of Bill losing his job and struggling to get back on his feet. This is a state of handouts, bailouts, and support programs.

When a homeless person in SF tells you they need money for food, try giving them food instead of money and see what happens.

The main problem I see is that SF liberal policy has caused the nation’s homeless problem to concentrate and become SF’s homeless problem.

And because of that the problem has become so immense that it’s guaranteed no solution exists - unless we incentivize them to go back from where they came.

SF is the US poster-child city for homelessness. They come all over the country for:

- Soft liberal policies and handouts
- “Sorry, I can’t do anything to em” law enforcement policies
- Steep panhandling potential
- $308M in annual homeless programs

If that didn’t exist, other US cities would find themselves sharing the problem with SF.

When I worked in SF, my co-worker's brother was homeless in SF. He had a house that was rented out in Petaluma. But he choose to be homeless-he preferred it.
