Illegals Take Jobs Americans Want to Do - this Chicago Bakery Proves It

By TwoScoopsOfSpaceForce following x   2018 Mar 7, 10:23am 1,569 views   23 comments   watch   sfw   quote     share

The article is lengthy but here are some key points
A major bakery on the Northwest Side once known for making Little Debbie snack cakes was sold earlier this month after an immigration audit cost the company about a third of its workers.

About 800 employees of the main Cloverhill Bakery on the Northwest Side and the company’s bakeries in Cicero and Romeoville lost their jobs when the audit found many were hired after presenting fake or stolen IDs.

Some might see what happened at Cloverhill as a sign of things to come under the Trump administration, with fears in corporate America and among immigrants of increased government crackdowns.

...

In May 2017, the Trump administration sent letters to about 800 employees, saying they weren’t authorized to work in the United States, records examined by the Chicago Sun-Times show.

Those Hispanic

See the race baiting? Why not "illegals" or "Unauthorized workers"?

employees didn’t return to work, leaving the bakery desperate to fill their jobs. So the company turned to another placement agency, Metro Staff Inc., and it provided Cloverhill with workers screened through the government’s “E-Verification” program. Most of those new employees are African American.

Ed French, owner of Elgin-based Metro Staff Inc., says his company became the main provider of workers for the bakery and that about 80 percent of them are black. According to French, workers at the bakery were paid slightly less before his company was hired two and a half years ago — with wages up by about 25 cents an hour, to just above minimum wage.

He says everyone hired through his company is permitted to work in the country and has passed a background check and drug test.

According to a former consultant to the bakery, MSI paid the black workers $14 an hour, versus the $10 an hour the Mexican workers were making through Labor Network.

So Labor Network was paying their "unauthorized to work" workforce $10, but the authorized ones ended up getting hired for $14.

And the positions got filled, of course!

“One of the facts of the case — and a reality in America — is that the immigrants do the work for less than an American will,” says Okwusa’s lawyer, George Oparanozie. “It shows the dynamics of immigration in this country. Many of these Hispanic workers have been here a long time, pay taxes in a lot of instances, and many of them could now be kicked out of the country.”

Attorneys who represent undocumented immigrants say they haven’t heard of any former Cloverhill employees being placed in detention for deportation to Mexico.

In the past, most of the workers at Cloverhill were Hispanic. Now, most are black.

Again, note the neoliberal race-baiting, not "Illegal" or "unauthorized" versus "legal" but "Hispanic versus Black".

SInce PoMo Neoliberals Racialize everything, expect Politicians and Media to begin playing the race card AGAINST African-Americans, the people they claim to love so much in other areas.

:
“It was [African American] workers in the plant that saw, you know, like I said, that had been treated unfairly and treated like secondary-class citizens” by Hispanic workers, Lane says. “So it was a whole lot of employees in the company. Well, they was given a number, as far as I know. They was given a number to call … to call Immigration.”

ICE would not say why the audit of the bakery’s workers began.

Lane started working at the Chicago bakery as a packer at the end of 2015. Now, she tracks waste in the bakery’s production of Danishes.

Black workers couldn’t communicate well with Spanish-speaking Mexican workers and supervisors, according to Lane, who blames the company for the resulting confusion.

“When I first started, and when they first put me in as a packer, I asked the question, ‘Do they speak English?’ ” she says. “And they said: ‘Everybody.’ But when I went to communicate with them, no one spoke English.”

Lane says she also felt Mexican workers got better assignments and weren’t required to work as hard as black workers.

So two points:
1. They got rid of the illegals, yet found American workers right away at reasonable wages rather than barely-above-minimum wages.
2. Expect Race-baiting in the Oligarch Media in favor of cheap illegals (mostly Hispanic) and putting the legal workers (often Blacks in the cities) down.
3. Many Neoliberals and Lefties will have no issue bashing native Blacks and downplaying their employment versus wonderful illegals, while turning around claiming the White Privilege is keeping the Blacks down in all other fields. So prevent them from working, then blame Whites for their poverty.

Why aren't the owners in jail? Hiring illegals is a crime. WTF is sessions doing with his day?

Why are you distracting from the topic? Not many here are fans of Sessions so far - the point is that a leftist myth has been clearly debunked. And myth is a nice way of labeling it for those who are simply ignorant, deliberate lying is more accurate for those who know those wage numbers and how they shift higher when citizens only are employed.

The takeaway is poorer citizens of any race should vehemently oppose illegal immigration and also stand for curbed legal immigration.

Yep, not only did the bakery get a bunch of new and legal workers very quickly, but they had to pay them a market wage, not the artificial low wage they obtained by illegal activity.

The Left, now on the side of Illegally paying Low Wages

The topic is hiring of illegal immigrants, which is a crime that if vigorously prosecuted would shortly result in no jobs for illegals and no illegals in the country. Saving billions of dollars in an utterly useless effort to keep them out when people will hire them.

I have no clue what leftist myth you are babbling about. Employers along with their bought and sold dick licking right wing politicians have been crying for decades that illegals are only taking jobs that no american would do. While crying that we need to crack down on illegal immigration.

Talk to any farmer and they will tell you just that. The truth is they don't want to pay higher wages or invest into automation.

You're a bit backwards in time here. That may have been the case way back then when the left protected its nation's workers, and to some extent there are still mainstream Repub cucks left that would want keep this tradition going, but first and foremost it is the LEFT that is fostering this anti-patriotic bullshit these days, along with a couple of cucked mainstream Repubs. Why do you think there are so many shrieking voices in both parties every-time DT enacts some nation/worker-protecting measure?! This is the beginning of a long lost tradition/direction, and it's not just happening in the US.

Totally agree. If you look at motives for past immigration laws in the USA, stopping the entry of low paid foreign labor was at the top of the list, whether it was from China, Africa, or Europe. It was about the average citizen being able to make an honest living, without having to compete with desperate immigrants. There is nothing at all wrong with that, unless you are making a buck off of the cheap labor.

Even the contractors are Mexicans.

The employers must go to jail to make any real dent in the hiring of illegals.

The modern leftist myth that unskilled immigration is good for low income citizens and that it doesn't depress wages. Has been mentioned several times.

Anyone who has worked with home contractors knows the drill. The manager or owner is typically a citizen who then hires a crew of undocumented laborers. Personally, these folks can be decent people, but they cheated and broke the law to get here. Disregarding the law to get what you want is a character trait that should result in no entry for all immigrants.

Not just that, they must have their assets seized and forfeited like we do with people we catch with Cannabis.

The question is, when it’s a public company, should every shareholder have all their assets seized and then forfeited? Like we do to sick Americans and Veterans when we catch them with Satans flowers?
