The decision was the culmination of a two-year public review process, which included an independent scientific review and guidance by an expert panel that determined the regulations adequately protect public health. It was also the latest effort to develop uniform rules allowing for more use of recycled water to supplement existing drinking water supplies.

The State Water Board is also working on regulations for "direct potable reuse," in which treated recycled water is added directly into a drinking water system or into a raw water supply immediately upstream of a water treatment plant. These rules are expected by 2023.

Don't worry, they got nearly all the shit out of the water before sending it to the tap.

That's California. If the politicians can't get you to eat even more shit, they'll make you drink it.

And walk through it on the sidewalks.

It's amazing how far the apple can fall from the Tree.

Fish peed in it first.

I remember buying my water from a local store near Monterey that had a huge reverse osmosis system to filter out the garbage in the water. Tap water you could smell the chlorine.

Why doesn't California have solar powered desalinization plants? All that ocean waiting to be tapped.

Shitwater or no shitwater, with the prices of RO systems nowadays there is no reason not to have one at home.

This is actually a good idea. In SoCal, we are getting most of our water from the Colorado River that already has numerous major cities upstream like Las Vegas dumping their treated/untreated sewage and God knows what into the river. So we are already drinking shit water at the bottom of the spigot after big agriculture before the Mexicans get the last dribble.

San Diego was forced by the EPA to finally upgrade our wastewater treatment plant at Point Loma to advanced tertiary standards (costing Billions) to make the treated sewage a little bit cleaner before we dump it all in the ocean. So for a few billion more, we might as well clean and recycle half the sewage and put it in our reservoir and treat it again for drinking. Between the sewage recycling project and the desalination plant recently built in Carlsbad, San Diego County can almost be off the grid in terms of water needs.

Why can't they give the sewer water to the farmers instead and fresh water for the populace?

Cause libbies want to kill off the populace and import indentured immigrants..

Darn, I was wondering if they charge extra for the chunky version of water?
