Congrats on electing somebody by a width of a hair, who ran as the Blue Doggiest of Blue Dogs.

The Dems are now 3 for 7 or 8, in National Special Elections, and 1 was a defended Dem Seat. Hardly the markings of a wave.

This means nothing for the Kamala Harris 2020 Campaign, when she runs on banning guns, paid vacation for women who get abortions, and One-sided Free Trade.

You think it will be Kamala Harris? I was thinking Kirsten Gillibrand, who started by taking out possible competitor Al Franken.

Actually I don't mind, that Dem guy seems decent with common sense views as opposed to most of his party-men and party-women.

lol--Someone is in denial.

Dems are overperforming in special elections by an average of ~16 pts. It was +22 pts in PA. Generic ballet is ~+9 for Dems. And Republican "retirements" paints the same picture. All are good indicators of voter sentiment and have strong predictive power.

Just a reminder--there are 110 seats that Republicans currently hold that are less safe than PA-18.

Really??

+22 in PA??

Which poll was that? WaPo??

Lamb was +2 going into the election, and it ended up being a dead heat. Would that be considered "overperforming"?

It wasn't a poll, it's the makeup of the district. Each district is rated by the makeup of the electorate as to how it would vote in an even year. PA-18 is a +20 Republican district. So, a Dem winning there is very big news--like I said earlier, there are 110 districts that Republicans have now that are more favorable to Dems than PA-18.

I have no idea. I hope they choose a Black Candidate (thinking it'll be easy to make it about race, a Black Woman even easier). But both Booker and Harris are notorious Rx and/or Bank buddies, and both are Hard Left on Social Issues.

Trump will mop the floor with either.

They're playing games, comparing the performance of Pro-Free Trade Corrupt Clinton vs. Tariff Trump in a rustbelt city, to a Blue Dog running against a fairly Moderate Republican, both of whom are pro-Gun and pro-Tariff, and neither of whom have achieved legendary Shady Corruption Status

In a district that is normally +20% republican, it's way over performing. Especially since the republicans threw everything at the race including probably the steel tarrifs.
