Sending sternly worded letters only goes so far. We've been doing that for two decades or more.

Unless you are insane, like most Neoliberals, and insist on repeating the failed policies of moaning and groaning that are ineffectual.

Eventually, you have to resort to punishment.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Donald Trump will announce tariffs on Chinese imports on Thursday, a White House official said, in a move aimed at curbing theft of U.S. technology that is likely to trigger retaliation from Beijing and stoke fears of a global trade war.

Retaliation from Beijing, eh? I can just hear the Fugitive Traitors: "We have to put up with neverending theft of American IP, or America will be STARVED! of Pink Lawn Flamingos and Dollar Store Chotskies."

Change is Dangerous. The US (China) CoC Suckers, the Natn'l Association of (Chinese) Manufacturers, loaded with Chinese Cash for lobbying are very upset Trump is protecting US Innovators and Inventors.

…“It must be remembered that there is nothing more difficult to plan, more doubtful of success, nor more dangerous to manage than a new system. For the initiator has the enmity of all who would profit by the preservation of the old institution and merely lukewarm defenders in those who gain by the new ones.” - Machiavelli

About time someone did something. The last two losers in the white house let the chinese run wild. WTF was bush thinking with MFN status for china. One more fuckup for the worst president in history. Now we need to see if it is a real threat to the chinese or just more political bullshit from the world's number 1 bullshit artist like the steel tariffs where 90% of steel imports are going to be very quietly exempted like happened yesterday.

Tariff threat is working.

The Financial Times reported China has offered to buy more semiconductors from the U.S. to help cut its trade surplus with the U.S. Shares of Qualcomm and Intel rose 3.5 percent and 6 percent, respectively, on the news.

The Wall Street Journal also reported that U.S. and Chinese officials are working to improve U.S. access to China's markets.

Compare to the blabbering about "it will eventually turn around on it's own" and "Tariffs won't fix anything" for the past 25 years.
