The Parkland Students Just Learned What Asking for More Safety Means, and They Naturally Don’t Like It.

Living free doesn’t necessarily mean living safe. That’s the trade-off for living in a society where liberty is the dominant structure. People sometimes forget that liberty and chaos are cousins, and that sometimes the two get together. The results can be wonderful. Sometimes they’re tragic.

And the Parkland students just learned that lesson. Needless to say, the freedom they just gave up to get safety isn’t sitting well with them.

According to the DailyWire, the Superintendent of the Broward County School System issued an order that all students must have their student ID on them at all times. Furthermore, the students may only have clear backpacks, that the school will issue free of cost, that display their contents for everyone to see.

Naturally, the students are not happy about their breach of privacy.

One student, who has now deleted her tweet, nailed it on the head before she understood what she was saying.

“So, we’re giving up all illusions of normalcy. okay. why should 3300 students be penalized for the failure of security to do their job?” asked MSDHS student @Nikta04.

Indeed. Why should others be punished with things they like taken away from them due to the failures of security?

The high school students are now being introduced to the bed they made, and must now sleep in. They demanded better security, more oversight. What they got was better security and more oversight, but it wasn’t what they intended. They wanted OTHERS to have to change in response to their demands, not themselves.

The students opened the door for tyranny with their highly public demands for safety. They invited nonsensical solutions for problems the moment they rejected the route that offered danger to be utilized to protect them.

The clear backpacks won’t make them more safe, but in an effort to “DO SOMETHING!!!!” as the students demanded, they pretty much rolled out the welcome mat for ridiculous safety measures brought on by ridiculous people, who feel their ridiculous actions are helping simply because they’re acting. And this kind of tyranny is the worst kind.

I hope the students think critically, and learn a lesson from this development. If you ask for safety, be ready to give up a freedom.

Comment from the article:

Yep... Welcome to the nanny state, kids...

If you were pissed at your parents intrusion into your privacy, they've got nothing on the govt... Especially when votes are at stake...

P.S. It can get much, much worse for you... Like random locker inspections, drug & bomb dogs, car searches... And you don't actually have any privacy rights (or much in terms of 4th amendment rights) on school property...

That's what government keeping you safe looks like...

Now, are you surprised some of us would rather carry a gun, than ask for government 'help' with our safety?

I love how constitutional expert Hogg whined that the clear backpacks violate his first amendment rights. Of course when it comes to the second amendment ....

Parkland’s Hogg: Rules Requiring Clear Backpacks Violate Our First Amendment Rights.

Parkland, Fla.'s David Hogg, whose become famous for his calls for restrictions on the Second Amendment, is attacking new rules governing students' backpacks as an unconstitutional abridgement of their First Amendment rights.

Hogg appeared Friday at a gun control forum with Axios's Mike Allen, where he complained about new rules at Stoneman Douglas High School requiring students use transparent backpacks.

"One of the other important things to realize is many students want their privacy," Hogg said. "There are many, for example, females in our school that when they go through their menstrual cycle, they don’t want people to see their tampons and stuff."

Hogg said going to school under such rules feels like a "prison."

"It’s unnecessary, it’s embarrassing for a lot of the students and it makes them feel isolated and separated from the rest of American school culture where they’re having essentially their First Amendment rights infringed upon because they can’t freely wear whatever backpack they want regardless of what it is," Hogg continued. "It has to be a clear backpack. What we should have is just more policies that make sure that these students are feeling safe and secure in their schools and not like they’re being fought against like it’s a prison.”

Hogg: Must defend 1st Amendment when I agree with it, ignore the fact that I've been trashing the 2nd Amendment left and right because I don't like it!!

It's all just more examples of the insanity of identity politics, victim mentality, and leftist thinking, leftist ideology in general. They don't give a rip about any sort of consistency in their positions, massive double standards, and so on. It's all based on emotion, without regard to effectiveness, reason, unintended consequences, etc.

First? How? No, seriously, how "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances" is violated by the "clear backpack on school grounds" requirement?

Do they fucking teach fucking civics at schools anymore?

Communists have no civics.

This is going to put a serious crimp on the high school drug dealers and the weird kids who like to carry around vapers, crack pipes, joints, booze, skulls and severed cats' heads etc.

they'll just put that into their sweaters, lunch boxes, or pockets. It's not that hard.

Shhh. Don't talk about the "Minimal Arrests" policy of Broward and Miami-Dade. It's about guns.

Next step: clear sweaters, lunch boxes, pants... I mean, if it saves only ONE LIFE, it's worth doing! Amirite, kids?

You joke, but I bet you'd see some really strange things in these kids backpacks.

Should bring back that kid who made a clock that looked like a bomb.

The clear backpacks are what the administrators wanted so they can more easily spy on the little darlings. Of course the kids don't like losing their privacy any more than the rest of us would.

The kids fell into the trap of requesting "something be done." Something was done.

I have some extra information however. Not far away in Palm Beach Gardens at Dwyer High School a student was just busted for carrying a gun around in school. The clear backpacks are probably a reaction to kids like him, not mass shooters who have rifles that CAN"T fit into a backpack anyway.

Maybe you guys haven't heard that people who move down here call it "FloriDUH"
