Not that I take sides. Because I understand stress cops have. Just pointing out the unequal treatment under law.

You shoot someone in back it’s murder.
Cops do that, it’s a settlement.

Why don't the police make more use of Tasers? If you have a clear shot with a pistol, would not a Taser be effective?

And what is even worse, taxpayers are on hook for the $$$. Perhaps money should come out of cops pension fund.

Perhaps the guilty of murder should go to jail (or get a chair) and that's it.

That's the big problem. Cops keep a % of the drug take and forfeiture take (goes into the budget, then doled out in cushy overtime pay), but the taxpayers pay 100% for police malfeasance or gross negligence.

This case doesn't look very good for the officers, because of the shots to the back.

Although the timing couldn't be more interesting, because it exposes the cognitive dissonance between "You don't need guns, cops will protect you." and "Cops are all racist thugs who might kill you on a whim."

You hear the window of your car parked outside being broken, and some noise in your backyard. You investigate, grabbing your Glock 19, and see a shadowy figure with arm raised. What do you do?

If you're a Democrat, you don't grab your Glock, since you don't own one.

You dial 911 and wait at least 5 minutes for the cops to get there, to take the report that you were shot or beaten by an intruder.

White guy gets shot... crickets

Black man gets shot... government bends over backwards in settlements and apologies.

That’s liberals for you.

If it was a white guy the cops followed in to his grandparents back yard, all you would hear is crickets. Nobody gets shot.

We need cops that are more competant, especially with respect to discharging their guns.

Not all. Just too many. Not racist in the most blatant sense of the word. Just racist in the pussified trembling afraid of their own shadow sense.

False. According to this - https://www.washingtonpost.com/graphics/2018/national/police-shootings-2018/?utm_term=.778f92336348 - filter by unarmed - 4 white, 4 black, and 1 Hispanic men were shot by police in 2018. If we can claim something then it is police sexism, as they apparently do not shoot unarmed womyn.

What is infuriating though, is that in 8 out of 9 cases where police shot unarmed people, there was no body cam recording. My cynical self says that perhaps they can switch off bodycams/lose recordings in such cases.

YES (not sarcasm)!!! And perhaps we need to take away guns from cops (sarcasm), as cops with guns kill too many people.

Actually, that's not true. Black men are no more likely to be shot than white men:

On the most extreme use of force – officer involved shootings – we find no racial differences in either the raw data or when contextual factors are taken into account.

http://www.nber.org/papers/w22399.pdf

As for the stopping of blacks, police would be statistically very well justified in profiling, because black men in particular are about twenty five times more likely to assault a white person than the reverse:

Why are the truly extreme rates of black violence against everyone (including other blacks) never an acceptable subject of discussion in the mainstream media?

As long as blacks as a group continue to be so extremely violent, everyone (including other blacks) should be very cautious around black people. True, this is not fair to the majority of blacks that wouldn't hurt anyone, but it is a fact nonetheless that simply knowing the race of someone gives you an objectively strong indicator of your risk of being assaulted by them.

You could continue this argument with the large disparity between whites and Asians. Asians are only about half as likely to assault you as whites are.

They can fail to activate their cams. This is really disappointing when cops do stuff like this.

Btw Marcus, race had nothing to do with this. And one of the cops is black, as if that even mattered.

Cops kill unarmed blacks at a higher rate because blacks commit more crimes. In addition, via the show COPS, we now have 3 decades of recorded evidence on video demonstrating the non cooperativeness and reckless dangerous actions of black people who are stopped by police.

Anytime a person is unarmed and killed by police, it’s a crappy situation. However, black people could drastically reduce the number of unarmed black people shot by police simply by complying with legal directions given to them by police. In a traffic stop, that means stopping immediately when ordered to, keeping both hands on the steering wheel, and having proper insurance, drivers license, and registration available. Further, I’d recommend not talking to the cop at all. “I have nothing to say to you without my attorney present”.
