..and then they become Mass Shooters and Killers..

Long-term use of antidepressants is surging in the United States, according to a new analysis of federal data by The New York Times. Some 15.5 million Americans have been taking the medications for at least five years. The rate has almost doubled since 2010, and more than tripled since 2000.

Nearly 25 million adults, like Ms. Toline, have been on antidepressants for at least two years, a 60 percent increase since 2010.

“Some people are essentially being parked on these drugs for convenience’s sake because it’s difficult to tackle the issue of taking them off,” said Dr. Anthony Kendrick, a professor of primary care at the University of Southampton in Britain.

White women over 45 account for about one-fifth of the adult population but account for 41 percent of antidepressant users, up from about 30 percent in 2000, the analysis found. Older white women account for 58 percent of those on antidepressants long term.

Drug manufacturers do not deny that some patients suffer harsh symptoms when trying to wean themselves from antidepressants.

As far back as the mid-1990s, leading psychiatrists recognized withdrawal as a potential problem for patients taking modern antidepressants.

We should probably take a harder look at who prescribes and manufacturer.

Not exactly my specialty, but people going off antidepressants are very prone to suicide.

This is really sad.

I used to struggle with anxiety, until I went gluten and dairy free. It took several months/several books/research for me to figure this out, as doctors tried to prescribe me high powered drugs. After 2 months on the diet, I chucked the drugs and haven't felt this good since my teens (I'm mid 30's now).

Anxiety is the result of poor gut health. You can heal it, but it takes time.

The medical community doesn't want you to know about it, because it's essentially a free/easy fix. Diet.

Drug companies and doctors make nothing on this.

The adoption of SSRIs followed a pattern. Pharma pushed them, the FDA blessed them based on shoddy studies, the media and trusted messengers promoted them, and society gobbled up that snake oil like candy. Anyone who questioned the grift was shunned.

There was just too much money to be made for anyone to do the right thing. Once the pattern was set, more pharmacological disasters soon followed.

Next we were told that opioids, including OxyContin®, were not addictive. Once again the FDA blessed them based on shoddy data, the media promoted them, and society took these pills in massive quantities. On average, every year the U.S. now loses more Americans to opioids than died in combat in the entire (decade-long) Vietnam War.

Now it is happening yet again with Safe & Effective™️ Covid-19 shots that disable and kill at an astonishing rate. There is just so much money to be made from poisoning society that Pharma (+ the media and the political system that they own) cannot resist.

And millions of people who once believed in the promise of a better society are now mindless zombies who just want more pills, more injections, and more drugs to cure the human condition. But even that’s not enough — they want a society where Pharma idolatry is enshrined in law and everyone is forced to obey (setting up Pharma totalitarianism is basically the entire purpose of the California Democratic Party at this point).

Tobacco=anti anxiety.
Booze=downer
Weed=?

A lot of people hooked on something; I'm hooked on coffee and certain activities, which are generally not harmful.

Weed or pot gummy bear addicts vigorously object to the characterization.

One thing I don't understand though: guys who are addicted to the fat annoying female they are living with.
No matter the cost, get help and free yourself!

People should consider taking Vitamin D, B complex fortified with B12 and reducing carbs in their diet before taking any antidepressant. Take a multivitamin too (make sure it has iodine in it) All these are affordable and available at WalMart to Costco. Just my opinion.

Even coffee may not be all that safe. The French Revolution was proceeded by heavy promotion of coffee drinking/coffee shops and massive expansion of University of Paris (Robespierre was the president of the student association welcoming Louise XVI's royal visit to the university more than a decade before he sat on the panel deciding the latter's beheading!). Nazi Germany was proceeded by the very woke Weimar Republic.

Ever wonder why coffee shops were heavily promoted in the last three decades? along with higher education and wokism? Now we can see those were all standard tactics for promoting Narcissism in society for the purpose of harvesting the Narcissists and their squirrelled away savings.

I worked with a guy who was popping opioid pills daily. I warned him to be careful, as opioids were addictive. He denied that they were, caliming that he stopped all the time.

Unfortunately generally wasted advice effort. Once addiction is in place, it has its own denial logic and if you comment it is perceived as a threat to survival with an equivalent emotional backlash.

Generally for sure. Still worth the effort though if you see someone going to a bad place. Helped me when I hit a funk and leaned on beer waaaaaay too much. Good people around you are better than bad pills.

I've been depressed, I've had physical pain, anxiety, etc.. I take nothing for any of it. Never will. None of the ailments I list require drugs to keep you alive. I've had surgeries and broken bones. No pain killers EVER. One Tylenol is probably worse than 10 beers or shots for your liver. Who the fuck knows about the other prescription medications. And yes, beer is bad for the liver, but I have no interest in compounding damage to enrich big Pharma for non-life saving pills. Just deal with it. Man up so to speak.

It's a business, n doctors usually trick women into taking pills who think world is full of rainbows n wonderful people and you are suppose to be happy all the time.

When you go to doctor, they give you survey for mental evaluation. Almost every women on her period will qualify.

Do you feel sad ?
( duh , you can't be happy all the time)

Various question that even if you were sane, you start questing your sanity.

White women when they are young, get put on pedestal , men will take them on trips , buy them shit, etc constant attention. lot of dopamine .
When they are 30, they get into reality of normal person n get depressed. Given that they built mostly superficial relationship, their men dump them for another younger model.

Yep, and even worse, if a 5 year old discovers the world isn't always unicorns and rainbows and has a bad day with their parents and says "I don't want to live anymore" or "I wish I wasn't born", they are immediately placed on suicide watch and pumped up with big pharma $$ antidepressants to make sure that at some point they really go off the rails, instead if having the parents give them the talk, preferably the dad, "son, welcome to life, it's only going to get tougher from here", and done. ;)

I see young beautiful young white women at my kid's university; the amount of attention they get is huge. I feel sorry for the normal looking guys.

Wow. That comment was from 2018.

Interestingly enough, I have been on a carnivore diet for a month now and feel better than I did in my 20s.

Zero anxiety/depression. Plenty of energy. My bench and squat at the gym jumped back up to what I could lift in college and my blood pressure has dropped significantly. At this rate I will be off my one bp med in another week or two.

They have villified meat for years, yet it's the one thing that has about eliminated prescription meds for me. I tried vegan and vegetarian, whole 30 and Paleo diets and found that the more meat I ate, the better I felt. When I was vegan I felt like absolute shit.
