The only breastfeeding stereotype I can think of is that it is the mother that is breastfeeding children. Perhaps if these same women took some photos of the fathers attempting in vain to breastfeed their own children, that would be challenging a stereotype. But then of course there would be an uproar, and maybe serious consequences.

Neither was directed at an individual on this site. One, the former is a humorous take. The later is the take of a sick, racist, snowflake. A snowflake that's been doing it for a decade and is apparently a little pussy and afraid of black people. That's how it comes across to me over the years.

Yes, I have to agree that "apes with babies" comment was without any usefulness to anyone.

I don't want to censor anyone's political views, but some comments really do have less than zero value.

Here's the thing, I'm not against a couple off color comments. They can be funny and have shock value. Hell, I've probably moderated the fewest comments and marked the fewest things personal. So I generally don't care.

But this has been going on for a decade here though with Sniper. That was more my point, not just this individual comment on its own (well there are two in just this thread actually). That was kind of my point referencing MoonMan's comments as well. Sure some would be offended by it, but he did it in a humorous way. Straight up calling a black person an ape and dropping Nigger throughout plenty of comments (not just one occasion) in the past is the stuff of white supremacist. And of course they have a right to free speech. Just not sure if you want it here.

For your sake, it's not a real good look considering you've had issues with what's been posted on this site in your career. Or so I recall from a past post of yours. May have not been a big deal, but if this site eventually makes you unemployable or at least turns the process into a pain, that's a legit consequence. I'll be honest, if I came across your site today and saw this thread, without having been here back in the day lurking and now commenting, I'd run from it.

That's up to you. I think it would make the site better (not a safe space - just actually better content wise and discourse wise).

Quick question, doesn't ignore block the user you ignore (seeing their posts and comments), but they also can't see your comments and posts? Or am I wrong on the ignored being able to see my comments? My email for this site is usually open in another browser, so if I get a notification I'll click the link and view the site not logged in. I was seeing Sniper quoting my comments after I had ignored him for a brief period. Couldn't remember how ignore completely functions.

Ignore is supposed to be mutual. If you ignore someone, you should become invisible to them as well. I will check that today and report back here.

I just want people to be able to openly discuss issues and points of view that the mainstream media will not.

Ok, let me know. I'll use it, but then I won't be able to see that users comments in moderation though if they did step over the line.

I do think checking in a different browser was going on. I know there's no way around it, but you might want to add that to the policy, that those comments get deleted immediately. That's clear trolling if someone grabs the comments in another browser to be able to see them, then quote them against a user that can't see what was posted about them. It's up to the person ignoring the other though to police this I suppose. But at least there could be some recourse for the behavior.

Not really. I'm going to resist talking about other users. The comment I'm referencing is sick, plain and simple regardless of who would have posted it. There are sites out there that pander to this type BS. People can go to those sites if this is enjoyable to them. If people enjoy it here and if I see more of it, I'll probably just go somewhere else to get my kicks. Hopefully we won't see more of it, but who knows.

Joshuatrio - I respect your opinions and your comments you've made here at Patnet. You seem to be one of the balanced and more thoughtful commenters. I truly hope this is just a bit of sarcasm though, as I didn't peg you for some that would think black people are apes. There are ways to make humorous comments about different races without crossing the line - as quoted in comment #19 for example. So I'm not some prude or snowflake. Certain things cross lines, and this did. It also wasn't the first time over the last 10 years here either. Call it triggered, but that's not what it was from my point of view.

People that have been here long enough know it's bit though or so I think it is at least. When AF post what appears to be serious comments, he's at least thoughtful. It was a looooong time ago, and Patrick (or AF) can correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought I've read before that he was at past board meet ups.

I don't think any ill will was meant either, honestly. I just think it's a reflection of an actual belief, that quite frankly is outdated. A joke is a joke if it's a couple times or in better taste. I don't believe that's the case here.

In my opinion, any statement that uses a racial slur is instantly invalidated. We have freedom of speech, but abuse just makes people think you’re an asshole.

You're right, logging out to quote someone who is ignoring you and then logging in to post the quote is now disallowed, since it really is being deliberately inflammatory. If you see such a comment, please delete it.
