Will Jerry Brown and Nancy Pelosi be the first to take in homeless in their own backyard?

I’ve always appreciated Democrat hearts, it’s their brains that are the problem.

This is dumb.

Liberals get the government they deserve.

"If you're a young Republican, you have no heart. If you're an old Democrat, you have no brain."

Conservatives and libertarians have the same hearts.

You would be hard pressed to find members of either political affiliation that want more homelessness, more gun deaths, or more racism.

It's just that conservatives and libertarians actually use their brains when looking at those problems. That's the difference.

I will take Pelosi in a well-guarded compound surrounded by men with guns and no homeless within 3 miles for $10000000, please. And pass on Pelosi taking homeless in xer house.

Right... Reps don't want these things. They just want even less do anything to change them.

I don't see a problem with this program. I've got a large backyard and I've been considering building a outbuilding/studio to either use myself or rent out. If I can get the county to pay for it, and it actually saves LA (and me) tax money in the process, it strikes me as a win/win. As long as the tenant isn't mentally unstable, violent or drug addicted.. there are plenty of homeless that are simply down on their luck and need a hand up to get back in the fight...

Wrong! It’s just that conservative solutions to homelessness are never allowed by the Left, whose solutions only make the situation worse.

If you cut off welfare to the homeless, and offered them a bus ticket to farm country to pick crops for room and board and minimum wage, they’d take it because they’d have to. But as long g as you give them a living for doing nothing but be a public nuisance, they will continue to be that nuisance.

You are an optimist. Picking crops is very difficult. It is much easier to panhandle, steal, and eat jail food if you are caught. See The Cop and the Anthem by O.Henri https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Cop_and_the_Anthem

Someone isn't familiar with homeless evidently.

99% of them have fucked over everyone in their life for the last time, and have outlasted their welcome with their friends and family.
the other 1% are too proud to ask for help from friends and family aren't going to ask it from you.
Enjoy your mentally deranged backyard Serial Killer.

Homeless people are homeless because they are mentally ill or have fucked over the last person they knew that was kind enough to help/support them.

I don't consider someone who sleeps in his car until he gets his paycheck so he can get an apartment Homeless. Homeless is a chosen lifestyle.

You simply can't put a roof over mental problems.

quoting me? I didn't say that lol.

Maybe we can exile them to an island or Libya or something

LOL I quote something you quoted.
Patrick.net used to bring both levels of quotes along for the ride. So the distinction could be made that I quoted a quote from your thread.
I don't know what happened.

It would be more effective just to let owners build in their backyard. The fact it has to Marry to some program is the dealbreaker.

Owners don't need money from the city, especially in exchange for that.

Yeah, you get the pick of the litter. Good luck going through hundreds of homeless to find them.

There is no way to verify that. And once they are settled in your backyard - good luck evicting them.

According to the article if you participate in this scheme you are on the hook for 10 years. 10 years of colorful characters living in your backyard! What could go wrong?

Bless your huge heart.

Edit - I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you aren't often exposed to homeless nor understand the drivers of homelessness.

The only thing relevant is the ability to add square feet that you otherwise can't.

There is an implication that if you agree them you can get permission to add and say fu to the planning department.

.... and spend next 10 years fighting these fuckers in courts. I wouldn't be surprised if they revoke your permit and made you demolish the addition on your own dime.

Homeless Person = Professional Litigant With Nothing To Lose, and once they are in your yard, YOU are responsible for everything that ever happened to them, will happen to them, they think happened to them, or they and their Legal Aid contingency lawyer can fantasize happened to them. Possession is nine tenths of the Dipshit. Nice job by usual libby brainstorm to shift liabilities to suckers and provide windfalls for the Lawyer Lobby.

Maybe Homeowner's Homeless Insurance codicil, that will run twenty times the rate of earthquake comprehensive.

I thought there was a Third Amendment or something on this about quartering.
21   epitaph   2018 Apr 11, 4:36pm

Yeah the problem is that you would make better money building your own unit and putting it up on the market for rent. Plus you wouldn't have the government telling what you to do with your property. The reality is that the only people who would do this are open hearted suckers, not people who want to make money, and housing is all about money so naturally nobody will be interested in it. Which also demonstrates how out of touch and frankly, clinically retarded local politicians are is they think something like this will work out.
22   zzyzzx   2018 Apr 12, 7:36am

How many people in LA have a yard big enough for something like this?
23   FortWayne   2018 Apr 12, 7:16pm

This is to house illegals.

Clever way to subsidize illegal labor. Since they are just poor, paid very little, probably can't afford much rent. 70% is a significant rent subsidy, they only pay 30%. Restaurant owners will probably house those in their backyards.
