Poor Neoliberals.

You see, the reason our Mideast policy failed for so long is that the Neolib-cons needed things to be "Just so" not just "Good Enough".

Case in point: On one hand, the Dems/NeverTrumpers and their MSM allies want us to bomb Syria and get rid of Assad. But at the same time, they don't want hurty Iran, because they're invested in the Iran Deal. The great news is that Trump is going to fix Syria, so there's no way Iran isn't about to suffer a major blow to prestige. Any Syrian future is going to be Iranian free.

Under a previous regime, the US would have made some kind of deal that would allow Iranian influence to continue somewhat under whatever regime replaces Assad. Trump won't. Now the Neolib-con Oligarch media has to figure out how they can pressure Trump to give Iranian backed groups a seat at the table without making it look like they just did a 180 on Assad.
