What I don't understand is when will people start asking for abolishing pensions for these government agencies? Also have pay match ordinary agencies. Firing firefighters and cops to pay for pensions-so people pay property taxes to pay for some 50 year old dude's pension for life and get no services in return. The death penalty should be brought in for these kind of deals.

Come on dude, you know it's just an IL thing. Posted in another thread, but instead of addressing our high income and property taxes, here is what our leaders do: http://www.chicagobusiness.com/article/20180411/BLOGS02/180419968/state-lawmakers-look-for-a-trump-tax-cap-workaround

They're too dumb to see they just got punched in the face by the feds (well Republicans) and are trying to work up some gimmick so they can keep taxes high. How about trying to lower taxes or the obligations? If IL doesn't pass some work around for the $10k SALT deduction, the rich Dems in this state are going to have a different point of view come 2020 when they get fleeced on their federal taxes.

Not willing to call it yet, it's a bold prediction, but I wouldn't be shocked if IL went red in 2020. It's probably the easiest BIG blue state to turn in all reality. Have to see how the IL exodus plays out though over the next few years, as I think most leaving are red voters. So hard to tell right now.

Yup i recently attended a state congress critter's townhall. he was trying tos ell the progressive tax . people asked him about pensions/unions and he said we can't change constitution, because unions would sue us if we even try and so best bet is to raise taxes? WTF is wrong with these nitwits??? I mean right now constitution says you can't change pensions-so change it. I mean if you are firing current firefighters and cops to pay pensions and still raising taxes-can these nitwits get a brain.

Things have to change here-this is not sustainable-this is pure evil. I wish we had a Trump like figure over here. I pray for trump-he is under assault and I shudder to think what someone who wants to change pensions would have to go through in IL.
