"Following his arrest on rape charges, ICE issued an immigration detainer to the Weymouth Police Department for Frederick Amfo, a citizen and national of Ghana unlawfully present in the U.S. That detainer should have followed the alien as he transferred from the Quincy Court House. The court chose not to forward the detainer to Norfolk County, allowing for his subsequent release on bail from custody," Mohan said in an email to Newsweek.

"Weymouth Police told the woman on Monday that Amfo posted $10,000 cash bail just before 5:30 p.m. on April 13 and fled to his home country of Ghana"

What kind of mentality did the "court" have to be worried that ICE may deport a rapist?

Americans have less rights than illegals in liberal CA.
2   Shaman   2018 Apr 18, 9:07am

Hmm, seems that he deported himself?
Did we save tax payer money?

Very sorry about the raped woman, but that's on the Obummer policies that let the asshole into the country and never got rid of him!

If you are looking at it that way, the town got enriched by keeping the $10,000 bail money.

It says cash bail, but does that mean that he did not use a bail bond???

Bail bond or not, the city gets the cash. The Bail Bondsman takes it in the shorts, though.

This sounds like a win-win. We got to keep the bail money, and didn't have to pay to deport him.

Americans can't drive for uber, rape a customer, post bail, then the flee the country? Why not? What CA satute prevents it?

Really? How about:

How was an illegal able to get and keep a driver's license?
How was an illegal able to pass an Uber background check?
How was it that a judge not consider an illegal arrested for rape as a flight risk, and thus post a ridiculously low bail? With a bondsman, one typically puts down 10%, which means all the rapist had to do is cough up $1,000 and buy a airline ticket.

FW said americans dont have the rights of illegals. Americans don't have the right to do any of these things? Americans don't have the right to get a DL or pass an Uber backround check, or get arrested for rape, or get low bail? You learn something new on patnet every single day.

Illegals can get drivers license in CA.

$10K for a rape? That's cheap. Less than DUI in most cases.

How much for murder? $15K?

How many Rep/Cons are employing illegals today?

This. Why we do not have mandatory E-verify? Can it be introduced by executive order?

Do you actually think trump really wants low cost labor to go away? He wants a good show for the base. Lots of cash going to favored contractors to build a wall wouldn't be bad either.

Why don't we have corporate employers of illegals going to jail? ICE works for trump, yet nothing. I would suggest we start with a raid on trump industries.
15   Shaman   2018 Apr 18, 3:00pm

The bail was ridiculously low. And I think he paid cash for a reason. Bail bondsmen might just track his ass down in Ghana, stuff him in a sack, and ship him back to the USA to rot in a cell for a while. Bondsmen are gangster like that. If they let anyone skip and go free, they have to worry about the next bond twice as hard.

That is my point here, rich people want semi-slave illegal labor to work in their meat packing plants/mowing their lawns for pennies, instead of hiring Americans and paying a little more.

18   FortWayne   2018 Apr 18, 5:41pm

You can’t post bail for violent crimes. Flight risk. And shouldn’t be released for them.

Some people think that's great, and that the nasty White Working Class deserves to be ground into dust, replaced with People who Understand the Moral Supremacy of the Ruling Class. Not nonsense like Liberty or Democracy, but proper deference to the Patron like it was back home, and grateful for a few scraps more.

The law needs it's diapers changed. Illegal Aliens are always a flight risk, and any bail should take that into account.

FW has a very strong point.Illegals can always skip bail and return to their country, but an American cannot. In that sense, yes, Americans have less rights than illegals.

My passport is up to date. I can leave just as easy as any illegal. Much easier actually since most illegals don't have passports and would have to work their way back to the border to sneak across.
26   MisdemeanorRebel   2018 Apr 18, 9:29pm

Do you think the BP or Federales are going to stop a Mexican from returning to Mexico, passport or not?

If either gave a shit, nothing that a Matrícula Consular card couldn't ease. We know that illegals go back and forth all the time.

If anything the Federale probably gets his cell phone out and says "Look for Vasco Rodriguez, I think he's probably got several thousand in US Dollars on him, I just cleared him to cross back into Mexico. Remember my 20%."

Allow me to rephrase my point. Illegal aliens can always evade jail by going back to their country. An American cannot do that because this is their country. This is why we need the law to take this into consideration before granting bail. Why do you disagree?

Why can't Americans flee overseas to avoid jail? There is a reason that sometimes people are required to surrender their passports as part of bail condition.

Are you really comparing a visitor who can easily leave the country and have no burden, vs an American leaving a country and destroying their life completely? How is that same to you?

Damn that sure would be a great forest if all those fucking trees weren't in the way.

I would think someone who needs to flee the country to avoid going to jail has already destroyed their life completely. Just a thought. or that someone who had been here for 8 years, was working, had a place to live, and enough money to post 10k cash bail was a little more than a visitor seeing the smithsonian for a couple days. just a thought.

Back to the original question, what takes away an american's rights to flee the country? Because they don't want to destroy their life. That's a choice not a lack of rights. They can but don't want to. Feel free to post the CA statute that is relevant. Sometime in before the next millenium would be nice.

It's not a right. us citizens can’t bail on violent crimes. Illegals are allowed to go home and never face consequences.

Illegals allowed to rape women. Liberals are anti women, and pro rape.

and the question STILL is what is stopping them? If Americans can't bail on violent crimes then why do judges take their passports sometimes? It really is a very simple question. Too bad shucking and ducking isn't an olympic sport.
33   FortWayne   2018 Apr 19, 1:03pm

You are asking why Americans have less rights and get passports taken away? I already said why, flight risk. Which isn’t applied to illegals.
