Twitter Blocks My Account -- Claims my account that has been around since 2010 is a Bot account. REAL CRIME: I post conservative views with it.

I posted one too many a conservative Tweet on Twitter, it seems.

Today, they locked it. Claimed I was a 'bot' account. Never mind that I had this account...and actively used it...since before 'bot' was even a word outside of a Star Wars script.

So what did they demand I do to unlock it? Prove I wasn't a robot via Captcha test AND submit and verify a 'valid' phone number.

Ahhhhh....now we get to the meat of it all. See, I have refused to provide Twitter with a phone number. The Why should be really, really obvious to even a certified Libtard (but perhaps I am being too generous here).

So, my immediate thought was to purchase a burner phone. I was actually in Walmart looking at them when I thought, "I bet Twitter won't accept a phone number from a burner". So right there in the store, I googled around and sure enough, found articles/posts/etc by people confirming that fact. Likewise, Twitter wised up to the use of services like Ringer as well.

So what does work? Setting up and using a Google Voice account. Yup, see they can't ban those w/o pissing off Google...so:

Here's the article on that: https://woorkup.com/how-to-bypass-the-twitter-phone-verification-for-new-account/

Sure enough, it worked on my 'suddenly Bot'd account'. Yes, I have to provide Google with a real number. I used my Magic Jack phone number for the old, legacy landline I use still. As long as Twitter doesn't have any of my phone numbers, that is ok by me. And I can add/delete numbers on Google Voice. So, if there is a sale on burner phones at WalMart, I just might buy one and try doing that with the burner number later, just to see.

So I mention all this in case:

  1. any of you find yourself likewise in the same predicament of being persecuted by Twitter as I.

  2. to tell any Twitter employees reading this: FUCK YOU! I am NOT doing the equivalent of wearing the Star of David on my clothes for TwitterNazis who wish to intimidate Deplorable Crumbcake Americans like me! F-U-C-K Y-O-U!

I wish people would stop whining about Facebook and Twitter.

My God did AOL not pass and better things came along. Ditch the rich Silicone Bitches and try something new.

And Stay Right or get Left.

People that say that are more interested in fighting with those Lib Tard idiots, more so than they are concerned about all of that. Besides the fact, knowing what we know now. It's counter to your own interests to even be registered and have your private data on those Socials. Also the phone apps hijack your whole life, way beyond what you share on them.
It's really sickening how people feel complied to ram their heads against their wall.

The more people leave the quicker it will fail. There was a point everyone would have laughed like hell if you said AOL would be nothing one day. Then it was MySpace, Twitter and Facebook have seen their better days, they will not be what they are even now in less than five years from now.

I think the minute Trump signs off Twitter. Twitter tanks in less than 6 months and is sold to Disney or something.

Maybe it's time to do a little deep reflection. Are you a bot ?

I have experienced that some banks (and the Venmo person-to-person payment app ) does not accept a Google Voice number for 2-factor authentication or other forms of phone-based-verification (PBV).

By the way, 2-factor authentication and PBV is another plague that is sweeping the land. Avoid 2-factor authentication if at all possible!. Even some cellphone services that are based on Voice-Over-IP are deemed not acceptable -- either by mistake or by design.

In any case, https://numverify.com/ will tell you whether you phone numbers appear to be "landline", in which case they often will be disqualified as acceptable for authentication purposes.

This is an important topic. Soon it will be so bad that you MUST have cellphone subscription with a major carrier in order to prove who you are. There really should be a law that any web-based service or business should not be able to demand that you have a certain kind of cellphone service to use their system.

Please, everyone, share your knowledge on this topic, I think it is very important and may become critical.

Agree with TPB. The best way to make something irrelevant is to stop using it. Proactively leaving because they censor free speech would have been a better outcome than waiting until it happens to you.

@NuttBoxer,

>>they censor free speech

Imagine the following scenario:

Facebook disallowing "personal attacks" on any person that is a member of facebook
Twitter disallowing "personal attacks" on any person that is a member of twitter
Youtube disallowing "personal attacks" on any person that is a member of youtube

Would that create more or less censorship than the already bad censorship that Facebook, Twitter and Youtube are currently engaging in?

You didn't sign in for the "Bug" did you?

Are you taking to me?? Please illuminate.

Then they would be the same as most forums that have been on the internet since it's inception. Although there has usually also been a rule that you get flamed if you make a dumb/noob comment.

I think suppressing ideologies is exponentially worse than suppressing personal disdain for someone.

The Twitter Bug that said all of the passwords were compromised and they wanted all of their users to sign in and verify their accounts again.
Which was just a ploy to figure out how many people left in the exodus and to requalify their users as a valid Lead. To be verified as personal property of Twitter.

More likely caused by retweeting so many things that came from russian "conservative" bot accounts.

Difficult to form an opinion without knowing the content of the tweets in question.

If it's anything like you see regularly posted in places like T_D, then I'm not surprised. So many false presuppositions loaded into headlines, unqualified assertions, strawmanning, ad hominem. "Waaaah my shitposts got deleted, they are censoring conservative points of view!" It's like modern christianity. Jesus, save me from your followers!

It's perfectly fair to delete content that attacks another user rather than his point.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ad_hominem

The goal of debate on patrick.net is to arrive at:

1. a better understanding of how things are and how to make them better
2. a better sense of unity of purpose based on that understanding, to be more effective at implementing good changes

There is absolutely nothing to be gained by allowing personal attacks, and much to lose. They do not contribute to understanding, and they detract from unity. So they have negative value.
