Trump to Europe - If your companies even think about dealing with Iran "we will slam you".
Trump to ZTE who got convicted of dealing with Iran AND NK - no sweat I'll give you a bye.

Trump tweet “President Xi of China, and I, are working together to give massive Chinese phone company, ZTE, a way to get back into business, fast. Too many jobs in China lost,” Gee when trump promised to save jobs I thought he meant american jobs. My bad.

Lido City development in Jakarta? Billion dollars Chinese funded? Trump-branded hotels, residences and a golf course. Not a word from two scoops or usual cast of trumpets?

What about the country of origin for the components that went into the Taiwan phone ?

Can we include Lenovo PCs ?

What about American branded phones like Apple made by Foxconn in China ? Does that count or just Chinese branded phones made in China?

The real issue here is the end run deal Potus made to enrich himself.

Let's not bullshit ourselves that all of this was over phones and national security.

Homey (Potus) don't play that shit, not when the Trump organizations' profits or potential profits are involved.

Someone has to look out for number one and number one is not you and me or the country.

Yes, it's the obvious and predictable answer to Trump corruption. Don't you see ?

Trump's corruption will never compare to what Brietbart says Hillary and Bill did to get contributions to the Clinton foundation.

Also please acknowledge the class and sheer balls that Trump has ! No tax returns ever shown to the public. No divestiture from business interests. And no mamsy pamsy supposed do gooder foundation for pay to play. Just good old fashioned deals that are directly about paying him personally.

You have to admire his brazen moxie !

I'll bet Putin is impressed, and envious.

Buick Envision Sales - February 2018 - United States

In the United States, Buick Envision deliveries totaled 2,842 units in February 2018, a decrease of about 9 percent compared to 3,139 units sold in February 2017.

The GM Authority Take

Buick Envision deliveries fell greater than the segment average of 3.48 percent in February. What’s more, the sales volume was less than half of the over 6,000 units sold in December 2017. The performance retains the Envision in third place in terms of cumulative sales volume in its segment, behind the Lexus NX and Acura RDX, but ahead of the Lincoln MKC (see Lincoln MKC sales) and Infiniti QX50. In addition, Lexus NX sales grew significantly faster than the segment average, being the only model in its segment to increase deliveries in, widening the sales volume gap between it and the segment’s other models.

We expect Envision sales to continue growing in the coming months as long as the market continues to favor crossovers and Buick is capable of keeping up with demand for the vehicle. Whether the Envision can catch up to Lexus and Acura sales volumes in the future remains to be seen, but the scenario has yet to take place on a yearly basis since the Envision launched. What’s more, the Envision will soon see internal competition from GM’s Cadillac brand and its upcoming 2019 Cadillac XT4 compact crossover, which will aim to take on the Lexus NX, Acura RDX, and Infiniti QX50 head on.

The Buick Envision is currently built exclusively at the GM Dong Yue factory operated by GM China.

How about assume that Potus was looking out strictly for Potus and no one else and that in order to get his meeting and photo ops with Kim, if ZTI didn't get back in business, President Moon along with Preseint Xi would be the only ones basking in the glow of an adoring public where Korea is concerned.

About that Indonesian project Potus will profit from:

Hary, as he’s called locally, promised to spend as much as $1 billion on the two resorts and paid Trump as much as $10.5 million in fees between 2015 and 2017.

It’s one of the Trump Organization’s most lucrative overseas partnerships.

Hary, 52, has called Trump an inspiration, and soon after the U.S. election began talking about running for president of Indonesia. He has bragged about his access to the U.S. president. He and Liliana attended the inauguration in January 2017, and posted pictures of themselves alongside Don Jr., Eric Trump, and their wives at an after-party. He Instagrammed his stay at the Trump International Hotel in Washington, D.C.

Trump hasn’t visited Indonesia, but he met Jokowi on the sidelines of a Group of 20 summit last July and promised to come. The announcement in December, however, that the U.S. would recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel put Indonesia on edge. Thousands of protesters demonstrated, and the crowds returned in May ahead of the opening of the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem. Some politicians now worry that a Trump visit to Indonesia could be explosive. “It’s becoming a political liability to have closer relations with Trump,” says Dino Djalal, the former Indonesian ambassador to the U.S.

I don't think it's Indonesia project alone. Mnuchin is trying not to rock the corporate boat which has no real allegiance to US. Bottom line, Trump is a crappy negotiator and clearly not a billionaire if he needs small $10.5 million bribes.

Who said that? Most people on this board on both sides have been saying that China is a problem. Trump is doing a disservice to the country by starting something he can't finish. It's worse than inaction because poor negotiation likes this makes China stronger.

This is a fallacy, IMO: how does getting trade concessions in exchange to, say, not completely destroying ZTE is "making China stronger"? If anything it makes them weaker as it confirms that they can be pressured via threatening their companies dependent on US tech. They have nothing to hit back with and it became painfully obvious.

Loosening of ag and auto exports. And Chinese got nothing. Getting nothing doesn't make one "stronger".
As for reducing the deficit by $300B: this is a move in that direction. The same move can be done over and over again using many US-dependent Chinese companies as leverage.

Republican senators move to block Trump’s deal to revive ZTE. "The death penalty is an appropriate punishment," Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) says.

Now a bipartisan group of US senators is seeking to reverse Trump's decision and re-impose the export ban. The Wall Street Journal reports that the legislators have reached a deal to attach a ZTE export ban to the National Defense Authorization Act, a "must-pass" bill that authorizes funding for the military.

Supporters of the amendment include Democratic minority leader Chuck Schumer and at least two Republican Senators—Sen Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) and Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.). In the closely divided Senate, just a handful of Republican defections can be enough to give critics of President Trump a majority.

Cotton acknowledged to the WSJ that the export ban might force ZTE out of business. "The death penalty is an appropriate punishment for their behavior," he said.

If the defense bill passes the Senate with the ZTE amendment attached, it would then go to the House of Representatives, which has already passed the legislation without ZTE language included. Negotiators from the two houses would then have to decide whether to include the ZTE language in the final version of the legislation.

The final bill will then go to Trump's desk for his signature. Trump could veto it, but that would set up an awkward confrontation with the Republican-controlled Congress and could delay funding for the military.
