First of all we don't have anything even remotely close to fucking winter in Southern California. Second, isn't electric use higher in the summer. What the fuck is this other than a blatant rip-off at the hands of the utility monopoly!?
NuttBoxer, I have a few assumptions I could write down here, but could you show the rest of the rate portion of the bill? They could be showing you the un-bundled cost of electricity generation, but first we need to see the other line item charges per kWh.
Looked over the bill, you are right. Still, what could the possible difference be given that I live in San Diego between summer electricity and winter electricity? The majority of the cost is actually on transportation, 2/3rds of the bill.
This is the result of overproduction by solar during the summer and days in general. They are simply reallocating overhead, since the generators have increased costs at night.
Soon the bulk of electric costs will be distribution and night time generation.
