Maybe they are just making some threats to get Republicans moving on their agenda. From the article, they dislike that Trump and Ryan are blocking a deal on DACA, they are miffed about tarrifs, and have some other agenda items that they want to force their Republicans to act on prior to getting the fresh $400 million midterm election cash infusion. They can't be giving a cool half billion to Republicans in exchange for nothing over a little midterm election. Don't expect a full on switch to Dems.

They will do anything to stop Trump. The RINOs pretty much dropped their Republican act after Trump got elected. If Ryan, McCain, and McConnel were to run today they would be on the Democrat ticket. The Jig is up. People don't buy RINO politics anymore.

Yes, it makes sense to me too.

Trump cannot be controlled by the Koch brothers, so they go after people who need their money.
4   socal2   2018 May 17, 8:31am

I just think it is funny and illustrative how the Koch Bros who are the pro-immigrant, pro-marijuana, pro-gay marriage, pro-prison reform and anti-Trump are so vilified by the insane Left.

It tells me that the majority of the Left are absolute morons who know fuck-all about anything other than their talking points they get from Facebook and MSNBC, or they are total dishonest hacks who will lie, cheat and vilify anyone to gain power.

Probably a bit of both.
5   MisdemeanorRebel   2018 May 17, 8:50am

Of course the Koch Brothers have shifted to the Dems, they want their cheap labor to bust up unions, crush prices, while passing along the costs to the Taxpayer, which is cheaper than paying market wages.

David Koch is sort of a libertarian. As such, his views on social issues are more in line with Democrats than Republicans. His economic agenda is more in line with the traditional Republican platform than Democratic one, so he has been a huge donor for Rs. However, he is becoming more aligned with centrist Democrats like Obama and Clinton, who were pro trade. He is becoming less aligned with the Republicans, because Trump is leading an anti-trade agenda. However, the Kochs are corporatists and favor low taxes, so they will still give to Republicans. They are just fighting Trump for power over the Republican agenda. Trump has twitter and Bannon/Cambridge analytica's agenda. The Koch's have money.

lol. No, it's illustrative of how Trump supporters have no fucking clue what the left cares about and truly believe the ridiculous strawman arguments that Breitbart, FOX, et. al spew at them 24/7.

Hint: Dems aren't free traders. Dems aren't pro illegal immigration. Dems aren't supply siders.

No--those are Republican ideals. Look at the tax plan that Republicans passed---it was a Koch Bros. wet dream.

I know. They are squishy moderate Republicans at worst. So why have the Democrats painted them as the devil incarnate for all these years, even turning down millions in grants to help build hospitals and fund colleges? Totally unhinged.

Many people (including many Republicans) wonder how we got Trump. When the Democrats and the media demonize even the most squishy moderates like Romney and McCain as being beyond the pale, it should be no surprise that many Conservatives are saying "fuck it - let's give someone like Trump a try."

What's all this sanctuary city nonsense sprouting up all over the US in liberal cities and states?

ROFLOL.

Pro immigrant? Try pro low cost labor, pro amnesty pro more work visa's, pro more money in their pockets. Pro anything that is a means to more money.

Pro marijuana? Try pro states rights anti federal government. The issues are irrelevant as long as they can use states rights to fight against the power of the federal government..

Pro gay. David claims to be pro gay, but only donates to anti gay organizations. They dropped donations to Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) when LGBT Republicans became co-sponsors. How does that work?

Pro prison reform? Their initiative is to reduce recidivism at private prisons. Only at private prisons. When private prisons are under a lot of pressure to be justified. I wonder if they have any investments in private prisons that are being scrutinized?

Anti trump? How come so many people from the koch network are in the cabinet? Anti any trump policy that costs them money, not anti trump.

They don't turn down all Koch money. I believe that the Kochs fund NPR in a pretty big way, although I don't know the amounts. However, the Kochs have historically and continue to support Republicans, many of whom are regressive toward social policies. Perhaps Dem's are watching what they do, and not what they say and coming to the conlusion that the Koch's are not their friends. Seems perfectly logical to me.

A libertarian is someone who believes the government spends too much money on other people.

The koch bros are against government spending, but get billions in tax breaks and subsidies. They are against regulations, except the spend a ton of money lobbying for regulations that hinder competition. They believe in free markets and capitalism. Except they were the biggest lobbyists for the bank bailouts when their stock portfoio's were crashing. The koch bro's are crony capitalist hypocrites who only believe in private profits and public loss..

Not saying that have to be friends. Just curious at the burning white hot hatred the Progs have for the Kochs for all these years. Granted Trump has diverted alot of the Prog's hatred away from the Kochs.

Which can be said for most of the Democrat and Republican congress.

The emo-Libs make everything so personal. They can't just accept that some people have policy differences in how we govern our societies. Progs need to whip up burning hatred for anyone that doesn't fall in line.

16   Shaman   2018 May 17, 9:24am

The Kochs are a part of the bad old political system that needs to go away. Trump has severely weakened their hold on the GOP, so of course they’ll go shopping at the Democrat plantation, grab some okra, some collard greens, and a few strong bucks to fetch and carry.

Looks like basic corporatism pro-trade, pro-immigration, "screw the poor" economics wrapped in identity politics and SJW claptrap.

Then Trump comes along... BAM... it's all gone!

No, those are tech bourgeois - lumpenprole alliance ideas. Keep wages low by importing millions of unnecessary unskilled workers, but lots of government handouts to the un- or marginally employed. Make up for shit wages with government programs, instead of letting shit wages rise, which increases tax revenue while eliminating the need for Food Stamps in the first place.

Also if shitty wages rise it can be controlled by aggressive implementation of labor saving devices, which will create some middle class jobs as well.

The koch bro's go far beyond policy differences. They have spent 40 years and billions of dollars building a huge extremely secret organization\ of large numbers of like minded very wealthy people to control the political system of the country for their own gain. With great success in the courts, congress, and state governments. Trump is. a fluke, a once in a generation idiot savant of self promotion and snake charming. They didn't take him seriously until after he had his hustle in top gear. They won't make that mistake again.

Was listing to batshit left crazy Pacifica KPFK this morning, its right next to NPR so sometimes I want to hear what the crazy CA left is talking about for the day. They had ominous music playing while talking about how the Jews took over Palestinian land, the Rothschilds, Zionists, and so on it sounded like Nazi propaganda.

Yep, Dems have a 1920s Hooverian Platform. Almost $1T in annual Trade Deficits are A-OK indefinitely! Let China and Canada and Mexico cheat without penalties! Prevent dumping of steel, even though Europe just imposed a big ass tariff to prevent the same, leaving only one large market (ie US) to be the lone target of all the Asian Steel dumping? Do you want to start a trade war?! Fuckin' White Males!

The Dems have no platform to keep good jobs, other than "Spend more on Education".

How could anybody have you on ignore, Heraclitus?

Too funny. All the state governments are gone. all of congress is gone, all the fund raising is gone, all of the right wing echo chamber is gone. Uh huh. sure right. Where are all of the changes that the Koch bro's disagree with? A bit of political theater about illegals that doesn't get rid of illegals? Tariffs that get 95% exempted before even taking effect? Pruit slashing away at anything he finds at the EPA? The huge tax cut? Trump is the Koch bro's wet dream come true so far.

You can have whatever politicians in the wings you want. The problem for the Koch is that republican voters demonstrated they don't care about small government and went for a totally different narrative. One that will also not go away that easily.
