That's exactly why he left.

Kind of an interesting story but it's basically about a guy who got tired of doing what he had been doing and decided to do something else. Many people wouldn't do what he did, but he did it. Sounds like it wouldn't be THAT hard for him to go back into his old line of work if and when he wants to, but he doesn't. Really not much of a news story here.

I don't think the story is about Charlie as much as it's about his work. And Charlie's work has had a big focus on the down-and-outs in America. What I got out of it was that this country is a long ways from the American Dream that people always move here for.

If you only hang out in hospitals you'd think that everybody is sick. Kinda same thing here.

Detroit is a symbol of what unions bring at the end. CA is next, we have pension obligations so high, we can't even afford basic fucking services anymore. Any little thing will send cities into bankruptcy fast.

I hear Illinois is doing poorly too, because of government extravagance.

I remember a documentary about a monkey colony that was so infested with ticks they couldn't do anything about it. The monkeys were barely surviving with all of these ballooned, bulging, bloodsucking ticks hanging off of their bodies, trying to go about their business.

That's what it feels like living in California.

Right, so since I only work in tech, I forget a lot of people in this country are not very well off.
