Another right wing article that justifies business interests at the long term expense of the environment using undefined or ambiguous terms.

Nobody is claiming things like 75% of the world's forests are GONE. The argument is that 2nd-4th growth forest, especially monocropped, is not equivalent to old growth forests.

Anybody who has been purchasing wood for 40 years has been able to see the decline in quality of the woods available to carpenters.

We are not running out of forests, we are grossly overharvesting the forests we have, doing damage in decades that will take centuries to recover.

Hell, just go on Google Earth and look at Northern California. The forests look like a fucking patchwork quilt of bare dirt areas dozens of square miles each. The slow regrowth of previously logged areas is there for the naked eye to see too. It doesn't take a mathematician to extrapolate how long till every acre of forest has been completely denuded at the current pace.

I'd like to know what kind of never-goes-to-the-forest asshole posts articles like this.

The Forests disappeared under Obama while he was blaming hamburger farts. Most all of it was growing Agricultural Oil for alternate fuels, plastics and food additives.

Yeah, the warped pine is not as good as the hardwoods used previously. But does that have anything to with economics or something else.

the real problem here is that we allow imports from countries that aren't replanting their trees.

“Deforestation” is a myth. We are not running out of forests

This is an oversimplification, and not accurate in my view.

If 50,000 acres of old growth rain forests are permanently destroyed and simultaneously, the same year there is a net increase of 70,000 acres of forests in North America and Europe because of of pine forests, trees for paper and lumber, and Chrismas tree farms are planted, it doesn't mean that deforestation didn't occur.
